Hi all, just got the call i'v been waiting for - for at least a couple of years! The bloke who owns the FC 501, I first rode before i bought my FE 550 is ready to sell, and has given me first offer!

Just want to know what problems owners may have had with 2001 models to keep an eye out for, he has it with a well reputed and long time Husaberg / ktm dealer having a ignition / starting prob fixed, which i told him to check back to the stator.

Also what would a buyer expect to pay for a 2001 FC? Iask having brought my Bro in law a '05 FE 550 for $5000.00 AU rebuilt (also by a highly regarded Berg dealer).

The FC is in good condition, no doubt ridden harder than I can, and has done at least 1 Finke Dessert Race in its days,

I really would like this one in my shed, it would be a bigger buzz than a new '09 to be honest, its horn!

look forward to any advice from '2001 owners.

Cheers!

Azza.

2000 Good.....2001 not so good. 2001 required many engine updates to be considered reliable.
You have read the owners doc.....right?

Resale value in the US is pretty low for the 01-03 models.
Unless you just need to fill a space in the garage or need an extra bike for people to ride that you"dont like", I couldnt see owning one, not after owning a later model Berg.

Then on the other hand, I dont think anyone should be allowed to own an 09 without owning one of these first

My first Berg was an 02 FC550 6 speed. Maybe the quickest bike I have owned. I did spend as much time working on it as riding it though.
