Factory WP forks

Anybody used the factory (sxs) forks on an enduro bike? I'm curious how much more supple they are than the stock units. I have ridden a bike with the factory Marzocchi 50mm forks and they were amazingly supple in the rocks yet didn't dive in whooped out turns. I know spending $7500 on a bike and then spending $2000 on forks seems silly, but hey, we are talking about a 'berg. We all bought a 'berg because it handles like nothing else and if you can make it even better, why not!

he mods the forks so you get 4 seperate adjustments. its called aps.
i had my 98fx600e done by him and it was absolutely flawless.
super plush, never stacked up, tons of bottoming resistance and very tuneable. a lot less than new forks too.
tuts

the SXS forks look cool! that would be the best reason to buy them, cause you can make your stock forks better.

If I was going to buy forks they would be Showa
or Ohlins.WP always seems to be a year behind.
Talk to some of the big suspension shops and
get the whole picture.

What can be done to the stock forks to make them work better? As mentioned in previous post, I have ridden the 'zoke 50mm and I had Paioli 46mm RSU factory units that were both far better performing than anything else I have ridden with. Most forks that I have used don't transition well from being supple in the rocks to taking big jumps without getting harse somewhere in between.

have a good suspension shop set up your stuff. now im a bit biased but MX-Tech is the leader when it comes to WP stuff. and if you want something to help with bottoming and make it more plush at the same time, look into the enzo sub tanks.

Pete Russell at Novation Racing in Spokane WA, does some outstanding work with suspension. He has designed his own internals of both the fork and the shock and it works fantastic.
if you want to know more, check out the reviews on ktmtalk.com under suspension. Or call him at 509-879-3751.

As mentioned, check out Dick's Racing.

Call him, he will explain what he does. It is amazing how the forks are now supple, plush. no midstroke harshness, progressively resistant to bottoming.

When we were riding last weekend, I was jumping some small hills in the trails, when one of them was before a 6 foot drop. Nice hard 'g' out. I was expecting a jolt when I landed. Instead, nothing, just smooth damping, no harshness even though the bike landed flat on both wheels at the same time.

My son used to be considerably faster than I on those trails. Now I have to stop and wait for him to catch up. :D
