OK, gonna give this a shot.
We are trying to get a feel for the needs of the peeps.
If you have a guest coming with you and they will be riding, Please have them register and answer the poll.
After answering the poll, please post your intentions and current level of commitment to making the event. (Example, I would like a cabin,lodge room etc. I will be coming with 2 others, non riders. Your level of commitment at this time is (100%, 50/50....whatever). Please include any comments you have Harmel's/KOA/??? Please include your ride level comfort (A/B/C)

Currently it appears that Harmels and the campgrounds down the road are our best options. If you are bringing non riding guest's, familys etc.. it is by far and away the best option. The only issue with Harmel's being 1) They are on the pricey side. 2) Everybody is not going to be able to stay there.

The only other option that fit's most of what we need is the KOA. If your camping or bringing an RV, it is pretty good. They have 11 cabins, 7 of which are 10' X 10' and sleep 2. Between all cabins you might be able to put up 22-25 people. This is a very similar setup to what we had for F1 and F2. Very low budget, but with less cabins. There location is not the best for trail access, but it is in Gunnison. As of Friday, they were wide open for our dates.
The KOA and Harmel's are roughly 15 miles apart.

I would imagine that we will get an actual attendance list going in the next month or so.

Thanks

100% commitment to coming.

So far it is just me coming.

I selected RV with Hookups b/c that is what I would like, but, I can easily spend 5 days dry camping at Onemile, since it is close to Harmels and the trails.

The KOA is awsome. Everyone would be together, the thing you run into there is you have to be street legal or trailor to the ride you go on. I am street legal as are 99% of the people around here. It opens up a whole diffrent set of problems. We delt with this last time.So you need to be street legal or be able to trailor.

Thanks for checking this out for us Fritz! Great info.

at the moment here is what i know;
100% sure there will be two [2] riders
100% sure both want to do 'a' rides.
two [2] more may attend but they can chime in for themselves

as far as cost;
cheaper is better.
from the limited information i have gathered i wouldnt say harmels is pricey.
i think, harmels has motel style room that sleep 4 for $110/night and that includes breakfast.
so 110/4= 27.50 then figure 7.50 breakfast elsewhere so its really $20.
they have cabins for double that 220/4=55 with breakfast.
question.....what is koa rates?????

as far as 'all together' goes;
if harmels and the campground are a short walk, then to me, its the same as one place.
but after a long day riding, a few beers, and sore muscles, 1/4 mile might seem like an eternity.
koa is truely all in one. this will be like fr1 & fr2.
question.....which is better for adults to hangout by a fire and carry-on?
question.....does either have a time for 'lights out'?

as far as 'family outing' goes;
speaking for myself, i am not kid friendly. i am not a good influence. i am crude and lude and loud.
and these are my good traits...really. i am not going to alter my personality to the lowest common
denominator, which might be some 6 year old. be fore warned. in my opinion, it was just bad parenting
when a kid is brought around a hord of dirt bikers and expects 'correctness'. at fr2 someone brought his kid into an adult environment, that was such a disrespectful thing for everyone. for the adults,
for the kid, for the mom. a total sham. and thats when i was younger and friendlier. those days are gone.
now sure, if the family wants to go fishing, hang out at the chili dinner, eat breakfast, etc...thats totally
cool. but not at night when the beers and laughs are flowing.
question....how many families, and kids, will be there?

as far as legal bikes;
i think we have to buy stickers to ride but this doesnt legalize your bike [i think].
it would be easier to not have to trailer the bikes, but riding 30 miles on the road is worse to me than
loading them up and hauling them to the riding spot. in my opinion, if loading a bike is too much work
then you shouldnt be riding. at fr3 we were able to ride the streets [since it was tolerated by the law.??]
question..... is riding a non plated dirt bike accepted like fr3?
question......what is the approximate distances we have to travel to get to the riding areas?

some more of 'my opinion'. i'm going to fr4 for more than the riding. i am going to have fun. adult fun. tuts fun.
it much more than i 'want' it...i 'need' it..really. as i stated at the beginning of this fr4 discussion, its about the
whole package. when else, and where else, can we get together and just have fun for a few days and feel alive?
for me, not too many places, or events. i want to leave my responsibilities, my troubles, my stress behind. i want to fake like i'm younger and more carefree.

berger...your poll should allow a choice of 'type' and 'cost' of accomdations, and not just one choice like it is now.

tuts :devil:

Riding starts witin 1 mile of both places.If you have a license plate you do not need an OHV sticker which are $25.25
If you have a headlight and tailight and are in a group most of the time the do not pay any attention if there is a plate on the bike.Number plates kind of stick out but I have never been ticketed. Speeding wheelies etc is what gets attention as anywhere. Nights up at Harmel's have the possibility to be in the low 30's,Gunnisaon at the KOA could possibly be 5 to 10 degree's warmer. I believe you can stay up as long as you wish. The KOA runs a 24hr MT Bike race out of its campground every year.The koa is about a 1/2 mile from Gunnison Motorsports for those of you who were here 2 years ago.We had a Malcomb Smith/ TUCKER ROCKY ride out of Harmel,s last year at the same time and it was a blast. The riding will be 100% the same no matter where we stay.

We will be in our RV. Dry, or hook ups are both fine with us.

I will join whatever trail ride I can fit into? I'm pretty easy going!
It will be my wife and I only. She is an intermediate rider, hoping to make the proposed ride into Aspen?? We too enjoy the evening campfire time.

Both of our bikes are plated. So being somewhat close to the group/campfire is really the only thought we have? (walking)

Regards

Three of us coming. 2 Husabergs and a KTM
All three interested in "A" rides.
90% sure of the two of us from Florida the 3rd is in Parker and will come if we do. The 10% unsure is regarding shipping the bikes. My buddy is arranging that and until I hear from Kalec that my bike is at his shop I'll never be a 100% sure.

I agree (gulp) with tuts on most everything he said. Expensive and cheap are relative and we should get actual numbers. Harmels seemed fine for us 3.

I have a deposit at Harmels but that was just to ease my mind and make me feel like it's more of a sure thing but I have no problems with KOA.

My bike is street legal but I don't believe either of the other two are so trailers would have to be arranged which again is fine with me but we won’t have a trailer since we are shipping the bikes.

We three are all adults, older and somewhat politically incorrect. We can hide it, but like tuts, don't really want to nor do we want to have to worry about children at least around a campfire at night.

In 40+ years of riding, this will be my first trip west of the Mississippi and I want to ride and laugh hard and a lot.

I figure I'll just pitch a tent on the nice flat green fairway outside Fritz's back door. :D

I do have choice for type and cost/budget. Is it not working?

I just adjusted it. It would only allow you to cast 1 vote. Now hopefully you can cast a vote in each catagory.

I'm up for a cabin.
Don't yet know how I'll get there, but get there I will. I'll have to confer with Ned on how to mount an oxygen cylinder and hope that my new shoulder works as advertised (nice new titanium replacement). I should be done with the rehab in time.
