I have a 2002 Husaberg FX 470e. What are my options for aftermarket exhausts? It really seems like a new exhaust could really open the bike up.

Hi,

were are you from????
I know a dealer in Germany who has pretty good exhaust systems!!!!

I am in Iraq right now, but I am from Texas. I dont mind paying for shipping, as long as the exhaust price isnt crazy.

Hello Tommy

I want to thank you for you sacrifice first of all and also I have a 2000 400 FE that I put a big gun full system on and it is very good from a proformace stand point.
Be safe and good luck

Hey Tommy

Be safe and thanks for the service. Akropovic makes a good system.

Godspeed

First off, thank you for the support. I am ready to get the hell out of this place, and hop back on the bike. A bike would be a blast over here, other than dodging the occasional bullet.

I havent seen anything that Akropovic makes, other than for the 650. If they do, I havent seen it.

With Big Gun, does anyone know which system to use. I emailed them, but they havent emailed back. And calling is a pain over here. They make one for the 00-03 400 (I think those were the years), would that be my choice?

470 exhaust

I put a Big Gun on a previous 470 I owned. Quite honestly, the performance gain was small, especially given the increase in sound. Also the fit was less than perfect. Hope this helps.

Tommy,

Don't know the fit and finish of the Big Gun on the Husaberg but I did have one on a TRX400EX Honda quad I owned several years ago. A few things worth taking note of are:

1) The Big Gun has ceramic coated headers that cool quickly and will keep the temps down on the bike, not that it needs it, but ceramic coating an exhaust would run you about $120 and they clean up very easily.

2) A spark arrestor is available for them that is removable for the situations you might have on public lands vs. the track.

I was pleased with the exhaust on the quad however did notice it was a loud pipe if this is not what you are looking for. The fit and finish for the Honda was good but cannot speek for the Berg.

Just my two cents.

Regards,

I was told that I could in fact use any muffler, with some mods of course. Does anyone know if this is a correct statement, and if it is even worth giving it a shot?

Tommy

I modified the muffler on my 2004 450 FE instead of buying new exhaust system ( much cheaper). Pull the guts from the can and extend the perforated core the reach the end cap. Next buy from Promoto Billet an end cap with a screen and install. This mod helped the motor run much freer and keep it quiet.

That is an option. What kind of power change did it give you? I am looking for a little more throttle response. I am not anywhere near my bike right now, so I cant look at my can. What all did you pull out? How did you extend the core?

You will get better throttle response because you are more open as far as flow goes.
I am guessing that you have a section at the rear of the can that is similar to a turbine core, remove all of this and pull the perforated core out.
I used an extra race core from Big Gun to weld and extend the core to the end of the can.
