Hey guys
Waited in the wings for long enough and Id finally like to share some of the plans that are already well in motion. I am super excited about this and Im hoping to get connected with a few of the guys who have already travelled down the road that I am just starting on.
Motorcycles are my passion and my berg was the first to introduce me to this awesome hobby. Ive had mine ripped apart many times (far too many haha) and Im ready to dive into the more technical part of engine building.
Since the first big rebuild on my berg Ive done it two times over, each resulting in a faster and more well rounded motorcycle. I have also done some seriously cool things with my other bikes, and am very close to finishing a ground up restoration and rebuild on my Husqvarna WR360. Along the way I have used what I have to modify the motor into something truly terrifying.
With the berg however, I have definitely hit the wall where my current skills will not take me any further. So its time to tool up and get better.
The plans are already running wild. I havent settled on exactly what Im doing yet, but thats half the fun.
Theres a few things that Im keen to try and build totally from scratch- top of my list being main bearing replacement (those turned steel sleeves with upgraded and larger bearings look the goods!) and velocity bellmouth setup. From there Im thinking a full split twin exhaust dumped underneath the chassis, not totally unlike a ducati.
Im also a really big fan of the original 701 supermoto prototype that the husky engineers launched a few years ago. What can I do with a few sheets of fibreglass I wonder?
Im keen to hear everyones thoughts on a big bore 650 vs a lightened 650. I could lighten the hell out of the entire valvetrain and hope for a peaky 628, or just stroke and bore it.
What am I hoping to achieve from this? Who knows man. But one thing is for sure, if I give it everything I have then Ill end up with something good. That might even take me into doing this professionally one day, but more than likely it will just give me a whole bunch of nearly useless skills that I can brag about. And thats exciting man. Im only 21.
New shed soon, along with the cool spinny tools to go in it. Lathe, mill and press incoming!
