Hi All,

I know that Husabergs have a voice of their own with the whining, however I have just bought a 2002 FE650 and it is slightly tappy.

I have adjusted the valve clearances and seems to be a bit better.

My main question is, this bike has mixed mileage on the MOT which leaves me thinking how long has this engine been ridden for?

I don't have the funds at the moment to get a full engine rebuild so I was debating installing the DVSK to help with strain off the cam and valves.

Is there anything else anyone would suggest?

Yes I would go with the DVSK, new cam chain. You will be pulling the head I assume, so can check for rod play, not the most accurate way to check for rod play, but if the rod has a lot you will be able to feel and hear it, I have had a big end of the rod go out of round twice in 19 years, its more of a knocking sound and the knocking is less frequent than the valves. Check the rock arms rollers for play, too. You can still get parts from Rocky Mountain and there a lots Europe and UK (Taffy) parts suppliers. I still able to get a few parts from MotoXotica (Dan).
