The pics dont do that bad boy justice, up close it's a work of art. Now if I can just distract Dale long enough......... 8O

By the way it's got two camshafts. Who said this engine was a close cousin to the Berg single?

Interesting to see they designed the cylinder/ head assemblies to be interchangeable. The heads need a chain drive on each side of the crank.
Hmmm.
Get a decent baseline run yet?

Dale, can you get this imported into the States similar to the way Husabergs are currently done? I believe a dual sport and supermoto version would sell and be street legal convertable outside of California. It looks like it is essentially a 950 with the weight of a 650. Years ago I met with the Motorcycles Costa Mesa (MCM) people who had built a 950 Folan in a CR250 frame. They wanted investor participation but were unwilling to give up any equity to a venture capalist and so the project later died off for lack of funding, probably among other issues. They were 4 principals who had worked previously for ATK in Utah. The concept was good, however, and they got a lot of press coverage. You might be on to something big.

Hi Motodude,
I was "on to something big" in the early nineties with Husaberg. Your above depiction is near spot on regarding Husabergs past and very close to Highlands present.

Thank you for the interest, however and with all due respect "been there / done that".

This project has a very dirty past. I am simply helping out a friend whom has lost ridiculous amounts of money in his effort to import Highland motorcycles and secure C.A.R.B., E.P.A. and D.O.T. certification.

Said friend was to be the official US importer and no rookie as he owns a very successful multi franchised dealership.

Their are three more units and they all run dangerously bad.

My arrangement is simple:
I set up and properly tune an EMS for his personal Highland and in exchange I receive a new Highland engine for my Dirttrack project. Said project is not AMA legal and will likely never be more than a running paper weight, however and as with the first Husabergs, such is something I am compelled to do.

why bother you ask? Truly, I am not certain myself. Perhaps simply because I can.

Hope this makes some sense.

Sincerely,
Dale

....While many subsrcibe to the "if it doesn't make dollars it doesn't make cents( pun intended)philosophy, others see great personal gain in doing what gives them satisfaction.Like Michael Jordan and his foray into baseball your involvement with Highland is about testing yourself at another level......Did I mention the "Doctor is IN" :D

Dale,

That is just....SICK! What an idea. I saw the Aprilla twin at the ISDE in Slovakia in September. It sounded way cool.

Highlander....the TV Show.....this bike is so sexy it needs its own TV show.

IF ONLY CANNONDALE...had hired you instead of "designing their own engine!"

Thanks for reminding me. :? LOL

I recall our initial conversation regarding the matter like it was yesterday.
As I complained you patiently listened. You then provided a reality check of which I truly needed.

As always,
Thanks for being there and not pulling any punches.

Dale
