Engine numbers - PRE 2004 - Database

Hi Taffy

I haven't been following this, but the doc that I've made was in reference of the numbers of the die cast mould, not the number punched in to each engine.

If you can find some logic on those you could make a doc explaining those.

In regard of the casings, I don't think there are any differences between 97 and 98. Even with the bike I think they only changed suspension, the rest is the same.

Whato Zaga

the 1997 and 1998 have the linkage. again a look in the parts book might help to find a clear and visible difference twixt these particular two.

what we need, are a few more bods to offer up their details so that we can start 'guestimating'

anyone with a 1989-2000 Husaberg please put engine numbers up here and clarify if you know (or not) whether it is the original engine?

regards

Taffy

Very nice !!!!
I was always wondering if my FE 650 was actually a 2003 model.

As per Zaga theory it shows correct :).

651 3 278 FE 650 Mod 2003 ( 278 casing number )

That is a 1st generation engine with keihin fcr and a later ignition or at least the later ignition cover . Would be interesting to see if it has a sem or kokosan stator

Nuno

It is a 99 501 with SEM and not original Keihin carb.

Yes and it’s the second generation of the SEM
Then in 2000 same engine with hydraulic clutch

Cheers

Hi

That number doesn't tell me nothing

Hmmm.....#-o

It's a 550 engine that I bought for parts. I belive it's a '01 (or '02). My thought is that some engine cases was replaced because of the cracking near the svingarm-hole. That was a common problem. I have 3 berg engines from '01, and all of them are cracked, and repaired (welded).

I have a FC550 '01 with #554 1 017
, and a FE650 '01 with #651 1 048,
and that engine with #555 53 320.

..but this tread might be dead now?

Help

Just picked this bike up I can’t work out from the engine number I was told it was a 501 1997
Il try and get a picture up but the 2 engine numbers are
1051287
220048

Coronan's carb might be a heihin but look closely and there's something quite different about it. it has a strange cover on the lid of the carb. it doesn't look like the usual FCR.
