So long long ago in a place far far way my 11' FS570 quit working. There are some things that happened that Im not sure if they are all related....

1. My 570 is a snowlike (google timbersled if you do not know what this is)
2. For reasons I can not understand It burped oil out of the air box via the Crank breather tube.
3. The bike quit working, cranked fine but had ZERO compression.
4. The oil is milky... (0W-40 By the way)

From this I decided that a simple oil change was not going to fix this.

I tore the motor out and pulled the head. I figured I would find a hole in my piston or a bent valve. no such luck. From this I figured I would just do one of my top end rebuilds (New Piston, Rings, Clean the head and valves, new valve seals, head and base gaskets...) During this I started to pull the head a part to prep it for bead blasting. When I got to the intake rocker I was unable to get the rocker arm shaft out... I discovered its seized into the rocker arm. Im guessing this is was is causing the lack of compression... Still working on fixing that.

My questions are this...

1. What is causing the milky oil? Coolant... bad head gasket? bad pump seal?
Im already putting in new gaskets so that should fix it if it is that, but how do I know if the pump seal is bad? I took the pump off and can find no sign of a bad seal. It looks like I need to take of the clutch side cover in order get the seals out. I've also heard about pump seals being put in backwards... any links to post that show how to keep this from happening?
2. What caused it to burp oil? I have put the 2 screen and oil filter in an ultrasonic cleaner. they are spotless now. I was worried that maybe there was a build up of oil in the head that caused it to burp? Any ideas?

While I have the motor out is there any thing else I should be looking at or doing?

Head gasket for sure. I think backward pump seals were a problem with the early 70d motors, the spring garters should face away from each other. Is you're water pump weephole blocked?

Some seizures have been attributed to clutch fibres clogging up oil galleries.

They do puke a bit of oil when you beat the hell out of them, high oil levels dont help either.

Check the big end of your rod for radial play.

How far should I pull the motor down to clear out the oil galleries? I was thinking i need to get down the oil pump atleast. I have new water pump seals on the way. Any thing else I should be doing?

Im going to a high compression piston while I'm in there anyway. :) more snap! :)

Could you post a photo of what the seals should look like when they are installed correctly?
