Engine Cutting Out At High Speeds

Hi All,

I recently purchased my first Husaberg (2002 550FC) from a motorcycle dealer in Colorado and supposable the engine was gone through and rebuilt, which I think some things where fixed and others where over looked, but in general the bike is very tight and runs great. It even came with the Revloc autoclutch which I really like for the trail riding that I do.

My question is this: Why at high speeds the bike hesitates or cuts out when it runs great the rest of the time. It only happens when I'm going about 60 miles an hour or over and happens in 5th and 6th gear?

Please let me know your thoughts

lovely name, just rolls off the tongue that one! anyway, welcome to UHE.

your bike is excessively rich. check the main jet and if you have a 200 then come back to 185-190MJ. i trust that you have a dell orto - yes?

Yes, I do have the dell orto carb. By changing the main jet and going down to either a 185 or 190 jet will this in any way affect the way my machine will run at hight altitudes. I usually ride from about 6,000 feet to sometimes 12,000 feet.

yes, it'll run better still. but you need to get that 21mm spanner going and see what you have in there. if it isn't the MJ i think it'll be a spark plug next. there are so many things it could be!

good luck.

Taffy
