Electrical Grease on SEM Stator

Should have been at the Moab Force ride last weekend - it's only a few hours away, but Lineaweaver Racing was "crafting" my Dellorto in CA....... I was "jonesing" real bad.

So.... I started cleaning the stator area on my recent purchase 2002 FE501E and there is just the start of rust on some stator-meet-the-flywheel surface area. I cleaned that area with electrical connection cleaner to get the dirt off - but some rust areas are still there.

I was wondering if a light spray of non-conductive electrical grease in the stator-meet-the-flywheel area with a light, clean cloth wipe would be a good idea to kill the rust now and avoid near-future corrosion till the stator and I meet again?

Any one ever used electrical connection grease on the stator and later regretted it (a.k.a. Time & $$$).?

I use a product called Corrosion X. I just spray the whole area.

I use to work at a motorcycle dealership some years back and a salesman came in and did a demonstration with product and I was sold. I think it works pretty damn good.

Check out their web site.

i've been covering mine for years in petroleum jelly. known as vasoline i believe. same difference.

Ossaman and Taffy,

Thanks for the reply guys!
Looks like keeping the stator and surfaces protected from rust is just "plain" sense. Take care!
