electric start probs

i have a 04 husaberg 650fe supermoto with electric start fitted
the engine is a high spec as i race the bike ,
the bike starts first time every time with the kick start but wanted a electric start for when i drop it in a race,

my prob is the bike will not start from cold with the electric start ?? the engine turns over really slow then stops ,
if i kick start the bike and let it warm up it will then start with the starter when engine is warm ?
it has a new fully charger battery ? the engine turns over really slow like it has a flat battery when cold but spins over fast and starts when warm ? is it just do to the size of the engine etc ?

Hi Topo, welcome aboard.

Go to the forum / in the search top right type electric start & you'll get 730 reply's. This is a pretty standard issue with the older bergs. Taffy sells a beefed up starter but more important is that everything else works well.

I've given up altogether as my 02 is now so easy to kick start I'm not wasting time or money on the E-start.

(famous last words - we'll see on the FRUK 2011 trip in April).

sorry arkley, but all that doesn't apply to the '04. the '04 has all the good stuff for the estart. sounds like the decomp spring has come unwound or the exhaust valves are too loose.

ditto Ned and also that the battery has now lost it's guts so change that when you do the ADC.

thanks for the replys , the battery is brand new i had this prob and thought the battery was at falt so i swoped the battery for a new one and its the same , i have a uprated beefed up starter all that is fine all my wiring and earths car clean and in good order , my bike has just had a set up dyno run and service so all tappets are fine too , how can the decomp become unwound ? where do i look thought the cable just pulled a valve down didnt think it had a spring that was wound ?

what doc taffy ? im not having much luck with this and im running out of time im racing next weekend at 3 sisters and need to get it sorted a small fall cost me 4th down to 25th at silverstone i dont want it to happen again
