just bought a husaberg 550 a few days ago, transported it sideways in the back of my truck not sure if that could have done something to the estarter. the starter dosnt make a peep and when i kick start holding the compression lever it dosnt start its like theres nothing behind my kick to get it going but just kicking it over normally works, 1 out of 5-20 times. some guy on thumpertalk wants me to check my spark plug, I'm trying to take the gas tank off to check the spark plug but I cant find any bolts, if anyone knows what could be wrong with the estarter or how to get the tank off this thing it would be greatly appreciated. new to this forum and maintenancing my own bike so bear with me please.

And if it's like my 2002 650 the tank just pulls off, it's a tight fit bit try easing the front up first bit by bit.

The black wheel type thing k the frame is what holds it on, this is the only photo I can find. There's 2 at the back of the tank and one at the front.

thanks dude! tank came right off no problem i guess i just didnt think that that was an option and didn't wanna just tug on it without knowing. and yeah that's what i meant to say, when i pull the decompression lever it dosnt wanna start.

it starts without pulling the decompression lever and wont start when i pull it, but the bigger problem is my estarter

I may still not be fully understanding the kicking, are you releasing the manual decomp again? Before you go for the start? If not then it won't start, need let go.

But as it starts without then I guess you're happy it runs and fuel supply and all other parameters are fine.

It's just the e start.

-does the bike have other electrics like lights ,indicators and horn? Do they work?

Are they very weak? If they are I'd suggest battery. It may be strong enough to to click the start relay but not man enough to turn the engine. Depending on how long battery has been on its side may have been damaged. The electrolyte could have leaked? Who knows.

Try starting it with the kick, do the horn lights etc suddenly work as they should. Then I'd certainly say battery. Once running the bike generates its own power to the system.

If nothing works at all then I'd suggest there's a electrical fault, maybe a fuse gone. Mines got one behind the number board.

Any signs of any leakage when you moved it, fuels , oils? Just thinking something may have leaked and got on the wires.
