Hi all, I have just purchased a tidy 95' 600 enduro and am about to register it so I can use it on the road. I'm an X motocrosser and as a result of not being very good, I suffer with being minus a couple of discs in my lower back, I am therefore struggling to kick the thing over. Does anyone know if i can fit an electric start ? if so, how much, where from etc.
Cheers.

Hi Dec:

I think it would be an expensive proposition as the cases are different. If it were an 01-05 it would be much easier as the cases are the same for kick and e-start. If you really want to do this there is a e-start 600 motor on E-Bay right now that looks like a '97 model or thereabouts. The exhaust header pipe is different on the e-start models as is the frame I think.

Dec - There is a thread about fitting e-start to pre2001's somewhere in there in the last couple of months but I can't find it yet. I'll have another look later.

Bad news - prior to 2001 the e-start engines had a counterbalancer shaft across the front of the engine & the starter drove onto that. The non e-starts did not even have the balancer shaft and as a consequence the engine cases aren't the same. Even if you managed to mod the engine with all the e-start bits, you will still have trouble modifying your frame to get the e-start engine into it.

If you want the button on an older non-button bike you virtually have to trade it in.
