Electrex stator

Hi Am new to the forum, and to Husabergs, have just bought a 2003 FE400 fitted with a Electrex stator. The bike is running fine, but am concerned after reading conflicting reports. Have seen posts advising fitting a Zener diode (280v and 3W) between the red power wire and black earth from stator, so easy I think, get one and fit it ASAP, but the only ones I can find close to values mentioned are 270v and 3.25w. Could anyone advise if this will do,(not well up on electrics) or where I can source the correct one, or any applicable advice. Many thanks

Hi and welcome

What is the reference of that diode ?
You have to check if inverted, the 270V is teh voltage that it opens. Some times its a bit more.
You can allways try that one and check if in high revs the engine cuts, if not ok.
From what I know, the SEM maks 300V, but I don't think that maybe 350V is a problem.

Boa noite Zaga, The diode reference is
VISHAY - BZT03C270-TR - DIODE, ZENER, 270V, 3.25W
have been advised today that it's not necessary on mine as it's a 2003 model, what's your opinion?
Am also having trouble starting her when hot, won't kick, but will start on start button after turning over for short while..... was thinking of checking the vavle clearances, but would value any advice on this.
cheers Andy

Boa Noite, Ès portuga ?? É melhor usar inglês para todos.

So in Ingl^s, some say that the 03 SEM has some differences on the CDI but no one ever could told me what, better safe that sorry, I think that diode its ok, your hot start problem might be carb, what is your jetting ?
About valve, the value is 0,10 but I normaly use 0,12 or 0,14 with no problem, but its important to keep it in this values.

Nah, am English, just visit Portugal often. Will strip the carb when the weather warms up enough to feel my fingers! Thanks for advice.
