Early Berg valve seals cross ref discovery.

In the hills of TENN.
I've been needing valve seals for my 98 501, and the suppliers I knew of were backordered.
It's the only thing my bike has been needing, so I dug into it.

My local KTM shop said that LC4 engines use VW Scirocco valve springs, so it got me wondering...

I cross referenced the PN on my valve seals, read around and BAM. It's used on most every modern VW, mostly 1.8T engines.

I called a friend who has a VW shop and I got 8 seals for $10 (he hooked me up.)

Dimensionally they are the same and all, and they should work fine.

Husaberg PN: 200 054-01
VW PN: 036 109 675A

I'll be installing them hopefully today, but I'm sure they'll be fine.

I love discovering this kind of ****.

Mine look slightly different (black rubber), but this site listed them with the actual pic of the seals that came out of my bike, made by CFW.

MFR PN: CFW 036 VA3 6-8

Her's another, it's seriously the most common VW/Audi valve seal.

Kablazzie

you are to be congratulated on learning and then sharing this with us! I keep seeing a pile of valve seals in photos of aftermarket valve seals. I then ask for 'the one in the photo' and they always say: "but which is it?".

The number is right on the valve stem seal and easily crossable, thought you would have been stashing this secret for years taffy :D :D

although i will say it is not in the format of a normal part number more spread out like a useless manufactuer mark that means nothing to anybody, but if you look you will see the number just under the spring around the top rubber

you wanna do me a real favour:

who does the freewheel gears?
all those numbers around the valve stems? where are they from?

I've got a few more....

No, I could see the style of valve stem but I was getting no help!

the other thing is: do you still sell them for the OEM and make more or do you pass on a discount and make nothing? after all, the bottom line is that I have to make my living first!

I guess someone could cross-reference the later ones as well but they are less than half the price of those mentioned here.

regards

Taffy

what free wheel gears do you mean? the split needle bearings on the transmission are made by polaris i can get you that part number if you like, but i am not sure what you mean? or if that was an actauly question or just a rehtorical sarcastic question?

the numbers around the valve stems, at the very top of the stem on the valve? i couldnt cross that number to anything, trust me i tried :D

i do see your dilemma here, you seem like an honest guy to me but i am not sure you could tell a difference between the oem and the volkswagon seals, actually i am sure you couldn't not even with a magnifying glass
