Hi all, I have another Berg E-starting question.
I have done lots of searching on the site, have tried lots but still can’t really find exactly what I am looking for to solve my problem, and am at the end of my rope.
I have a 05 450fe @120hrs and from day one the thing has really labored (to say the least) to E-start. I always kick when cold, have had 2 batteries, several valve adjustments done (the valve adjustments marginally improve things for a few rides) and also keep the bike on a smart charger when not in use. I have also un-hooked the manual de-comp when doing an adjustment. (I read that on a post here). When the bike is hot I can usually get a start or 2 outta it, but if it doesn’t start the first time or two, then that is it and I am kicking. Fluttering the Manual decomp when using the button seems to help it start about 50% of the time if the battery isnt toast by then. If the bike is on its side or cools down, then forget the e-start, kicking for sure. It feels to me as the battery has lots of power but is working against the motor to turn it over well enough to start. I am pretty close to taking the starter and battery out as the bike usually starts within a kick or two, and just looking for any last minute miracles. One thing I have searched for is if the auto de-comp from 06-07 is any better and/or if this is adaptable to an 05.
Thanks for any advise, hope I am not repeating things form other posts too much.
