dyno run

i'm getting ready to try several things on the dyno.

it's unfortunate that the 400 is no longer made but it's pretty close to the 450 and i guess we can agree that it's the smaller bikes that want the extra ooommpphh!

so this is what i'm going to try

1) if there is a difference in the 650 headers and i can borrow/buy a pair

2) lineweaver jetting kit

3) 41mm carb borrowed from scoot

i now have the lineweaver LX2 cam fitted and it is more powerful. therefore i won't have the time to swop cams and time them up. it would be good but the gear in the sidecover would need changing as well.

4) i have ported a small valve head on the exhaust side only. cutting down a pair of 30mm exhaust valves from a BV head to 29mm and all the necassary work with guides and seats. this will be swopped and take considerable time

5) i have the offer of a pipe from chris ginn

6) i have the offer of an akropovic tailpipe from stickywicket

7) pokenhood quotes a 2hp difference using the brisk spark plug so we will try one of those!

8) ignition advance changes

i would like to get my hands on any exhaust system that anyone cares to lend for testing. i will be asking the shops as well and would appreciate any help especially from the UK boys in sourcing stuff.

i deliberately haven't touched the inlet ports, valves and guides at this time as i want to check clear differences.

another thing i'd love to check is the '08' or standard 650 cam from these last 3 years. a G2 tornado cam is another!

all results will be posted here and all questions answered honestly except when i lie. when i lie i will always wink so that you know that i'm lying-ok

i'm hoping that i'll be in and out in about 6 hours. it ain't cheap so i believe that json is soon to put up a competition offer and i hope to get some help from that.

if anyone would be prepared to post me their 'zorst i will post it back and all in good nick (condition to you!).

regards

Taffy
