Murrieta, CA - Husaberg North America, a division of KTM Motorsports, Inc, is proud to welcome Dustin Gibson to the Husaberg Factory Racing effort for the 2009 season.

Gibson, a Tennessee native, will be competing in the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series XC1 class and Mid-South Series aboard the Husaberg FE450. Gibson, who finished second in the 2008 GNCC XC2 Series, is excited to move up to the XC1 class full time.

Riding the new Husaberg on his home practice track for the first time, Gibson was very impressed claiming, "My lap times were 8 seconds faster my first time on the Husaberg than with my old race bike." In addition, to his improved lap times Gibson is also excited to ride a larger displacement bike, "I am a tall guy and it was hard riding the XC2 class last year on a 250. Now that I have joined with Husaberg I will be able to ride the FE450 in the XC1 class and I feel that I can be a real contender in that class."

"We have been impressed with Dustin's riding all season and were even more pleased the first time we saw him on the Husaberg turning faster lap times than on his other bike," commented Husaberg National Sales Manager, Clay Stuckey. He continued, "In addition to Dustin's determination to win and his speed on the bike, his personality and attitude toward racing have always been top-notch. He is always positive and friendly to all he meets in the motorcycle community. That is one of the main reasons we believe he will be a great representative for Husaberg in the 2009 season."

Very interesting. Gibson should certainly be a contender for a "Top Ten" position in 2009. Podium finish...um...maybe. The series is looking to be wide open this year following four years of imported KTM domination.

Thanks for the post! Great news and the best to Dustin, a new Husaberg Factory rider!

Well...that didn't seem to last very long.

After posting a 10th, DNF and 142nd O/A finishes on the Berg Gibson is now riding Kawasaki. Wonder whether he or Husaberg ended the relationship?

I see long-time Kawasaki rider Jesse Robinson is now riding Husaberg in the GNCC series, although I have not seen anything to say that he's supported by them.

Goldenboy,
Dustin Gibson and Husaberg mutually agreed to part company.
Husaberg has reached a new agreement with Jesse Robinson to compete in the remaining GNCCs in 2009. Jesse will be riding a FE570. He finished 10th in the incredibly muddy GNCC this weekend near Westmoreland, Tennessee. This was the first time Jessee had ridden the Berg in muddy conditions. His practice time on the bike was less than one week so his finishes should improve dramatically after he has some more time to become accustomed to the motorcycle.

Thanks Clay :hello1:

Robinson would seem to be a more "proven" rider than Gibson...who still no doubt has huge potential. Good to see Husaberg sticking with it and continuing to support the series.

Keep your eye on the Snowshoe WV round June 28th. Robinson finished 5th O/A there last year and likes the gnarly stuff. Hopefully he can post a podium finish there this year...but the way some of the XC2 riders have stepped it up this year...wow...it sure won't be easy.

All the best to him...he's a well respected rider on the circuit.

I just got off of the phone with Jesse. He says he's still learning what the bike will do. A lot of guys have a problem with the new Berg for the first few rides because it turns so precisely. They don't realize they are making allowances for their old bike's turning habits and ride the HB the same way. Then they tend to understeer the HB.
He also mentioned that the bike is really predictable and doesn't do anything weird. He said his confidence is growing every time he rides the bike.
After he gets some more seat time on the bike, I think his speed will increase and he will be a podium contender.

Great news!
That would be awesome to see a rider get the 570 on the podium.
Good luck to Jesse and keep us posted on his progress.

Nick

The main reason we asked Jesse to ride a 570 is from a pure business standpoint....we have 570s to sell and we are out of 450s. We also wanted to show potential riders that the 570 is a viable race bike and not a big bore trail bike. However, after he rode the 570, he loved the power characteristics. He is a very smooth rider and his style and the bike's power compliment each other. He says the 570 doesn't tire him out as much as the 450 he was riding because that bike hit so hard.
