hello peaple

i have an 02 fc470 that i took the battery off whilst doing this i removed all the wires from the battery and the starter solanoid without labbeling . now im at a loss as to what goes where.

1.. theres a thick red wire still conected to the starter going nowhere ? where does that go

2..the solanoid is pluged in with the multi switch but the 2 stud terminals have no connectors on them?

3.. the brown earth that bolts to the frame and battery is about the only 1 i think is about right maybe

p.s whats the best amp hour battery for these bikes as i use the starter a lot.

any information would be good.

thanks 2short

The Yuasa YTZ7S is what we all recommend but apparently the Odyssey PC310 could fit with some work in the battery tray, and apparently gives more CCAs, but nobody has come forward to tell us if they've done the mod, plus it's twice the $$, therefore the Yuasa is the best bet.

Originally there is no wire from the battery minus to the starter bracket on these year's bike, they added this secondary ground later.

So it's ground to battery minus, red to left side of solenoid, ride side of solenoid to starter and if the solenoid clicks, then it closes the circuit and the starter should wirrr.

Did you add this starter yourself?

cheers lefrog no i didnt fit the starter but recently took it off to put a new sprag or something ,im still fiddling with the idea of putting it somewhere else a lot easier to get to . ive got a 12v 15ah which is too big i think in size. i probably going to fit one under the rear mudgaurd ,i can make up a battery tray easy enough as im a sheet metal worker. have you boys done any mods with different places for the battery
let me no

Some do indeed place their battery under the seat, even place a second battery this way and connect it after the solenoid, meaning they feed 24v to the starter for more cranking power, but the sprague can give up easily under stress.

I guess it is part #10 on the Electrical Starter sheet (P/N 250 245-01) which is at fault. If the engine is cold, it will not likely start on the button for our years model, meaning that eventually this part gives up due to the stress. I think they must all fail eventually, just earlier on the 01-02.

I have an odyssey pc310 in my '03 fe400 and runs a treat. I haven't used the kick start for about 12 months either. Mainly cause I'm a ***** ***** that prefers right foot kickstarts. any who jump on www.husaberg.se and download the user manual for the bike, it'll have all the wiring diagrams and stuff ya need.

Ps odysseys are the ducks nuts.

RE: Re: RE: dumb mistake

Ferret, how does it compate to the Yuasa? Did you have to adjust the tray?

RE: Re: RE: dumb mistake

could you just give me a check on that frogy cheers

RE: Re: RE: dumb mistake

It's not rocket science. Starter relay between battery and starter. Button closes circuit, starter is juiced and whirrs.

What Ferret says is true: download the parts manual for the 02 from www.husaberg.se and you'll see. I am sure you can read the electrical schematic diagram.
