So we all heard of bergs using the 1198 106mm bore, but Im more curious about using a ducati head on a berg bottom end, and as Im brilliant at ducati tuning and my friend is brilliant at machining you see the match. His wife is convinced hes got asperger too :)

Delivered some goods and he asked me if he can cut some out of these 1098 parts, cut away my friend I said, really he said, go ahead! Good fun even if it will render nil in the end. Ill let you know as it goes along! Another mad project that may end up in the sand or....:D

Hello Tom. Wow! When you do adventures, you do not fool around! Would love to see you get the Desmo 4 valve head working. An old German machinist here used to make his own over-head cam heads for 1970s BMWs. They weren't`t much faster than OE, but great workmanship. He said the hard bit was making the crank drive the shafts to power the cams. No kidding! Will the Husaberg cam chain spin up Desmo valve gear? Might want to use gears instead of sprockets on the cams. Then Hyvo chains as Kawasaki used for decades could be used. They never stretch. I measured one off a 140,000 km 900 Ninja. With poor maintenance and brutal use, there was under 5 mm length difference from a still in the package one. One thought, the big singles from Husaberg are plenty fast already. Is this one of those jobs for a long winter? I am hoping to find a tiny Egli chassis for a fast Husaberg engine. I see no need to go after much more power. Good Luck, L

Will you try to put it on your 70 deg engine?? Or do you have another husaberg we can't see in your "I Ride:"? ;)

@lvspeed and Jon:
Were just finding out how to go about it and what bottom end to use, will get another one, possibly from 13-14 500, it cant be done on the 70 degree as the intake on the duc head is straight with 45 degrees angle from the deck, meaning itll point forward too much. This project is just for amusement, curiosity and the challenge of it.

I do understand the amusement :D I just couldn't figure out how to get it into a 70 deg frame. Unless you are to build a frankenmonster with an alternative tank. It could maybe work on ice. But a 500 is probably a better platform.

I suppose you are aware of a Nordic Supermono bike with a BMW bottom end and a Ducati head, having milled the cylinder as an "adapter"?

Keep it up!

Martebo? Yes if so :) Its too much of a longstroke imo, Id like to make it more half a duc sorta thing max 72mm, you asking it may get rather windy around here though :D
Never mind, its just for fun, perhaps there is something to learn for me and Im not shy of sharing.

Ok Tom. Did some angle checking. The 70% cyl / Ducati head needs a low profile carb or injector set up if Nasa helps with fuel mapping. Might be easier to put a supercharged ZX14 in a Mazda MX5. We found a mint Suzuki Cappuccino with suspect engine, and it looks like a Huyabusa mill will almost bolt in! No problem finding over 250 HP with that blaster! Yes chassis work is clearly required. Back to bikes of course, a Ducati Supermono might be more practical for touring than your Italian- Swedish blend. Unless you are going to tour on the Bonneville salt flats, then by all means make it work. Tally Ho, L

I believe it still has oem 83mm crank. Not bad for Supermono where you need good midrange out of every corner around the track. But piston speed goes "F1" already at some 8000rpm, so I understand your point with less stroke.

So I guess this project will keep you off the streets up to no good at nights?

Good luck!
