Dual Sport Tire that LASTS?

I just mounted a MEFO rear tire on my FE570S. I'm tired of changing tires every 1200 miles and riding on an almost bald tire for that last 200 miles. After reviewing the available tires, I just mounted a MEFO Super Explorer onto the bike yesterday. From the looks, I think it will work fine off road, but still last longer than a normal knobbie. According to the advertising, the MEFO has lasted on some bike out to 9000 miles. I don't expect that mileage, but anything over 2500 miles will be bonus miles considering the price. I'll keep you all posted on how it wears.

I use my 650 to get to and from work every day, currently running a dunlop d606 on the rear of my. I've done 1500kms and it seems to be holding up quite well, I've got some hard compound pirelli tyre on the front though as I had a 606 front on my old XR and did not like it off road at all.

I think any tyre is going to struggle with the torque of a big bore however. I'm just saving up for a set of motard wheels so I can have the best of both worlds.

LIke I said, I'll keep you guys posted. I'm also running a Dunlop 606 on the front. The MEFO is being touted as a 7000-9000 mile tire. I have my doubts, but I'll update this when I know from experience. Also, I ride a lot of off road, I'll be updating in regard to traction off road, on road it is a nice feeling tire and not squemish at all if you are used to running on aggresive knobbies.

I hope it does last as long as they say because it is one EXPENSIVE tire! I will be interested to hear how it works out for you.

So far I can tell you a couple things, yes it is EXPENSIVE, and I think I called it something close to MEFO, but not MEFO several times while mounting it on the rim. The MEFO is one thick tire. It also has a lot of tread on it, which resulted in me dropping my countershaft sprocket by one tooth to return my gearing where I had been running it before. I actually measured the previous tire on one of my other bikes that was at about 80% life and found the MEFO is over an inch taller.
