Dual sport kits for 2010 Fe570

I just bought a 2010 Fe 570. What other options do I have besides the ugly BajaDesigns dual sport kit. I would like something more like the stock appearance. Thanks

Depends on the requirements of your state. In Florida you have to have a two phase headlight, horn, brake light, at least one mirror and license plate light. Turn signals are not required. All I had to mine was put on a different tail light with integrated license plate light and a mirror. I went farther and put on Dunlop 606s (D.O.T.) and had the rims balaced.

You can buy stock stuff. I used all stock but the turn signals. The stock flasher is pricey. Best go to an auto parts place for that.[attachment=0:uq7yzirk]wiring to add turn signals.doc[/attachment:uq7yzirk]

Thanks much, gives me a good place to start. Va. requires pretty much the same as Fla. With the exception that turn signals are not required, if they are there they have to work. Oh , was the Sickass pretty much plug & play ?

The Berg comes with mounting holes for the front blinkers. So if you by standard blinkers they are a piece of cake to install. You can also buy handguards that have blinkers built in, but I feared they would get smashed too easily. You will have to do some drilling or something to mount the rear blinkers though. And it took me a while to figure out where to mount the horn.

The main wiring harness comes with the bike, but you need additional harnesses to connect the front and rear blinkers.

The horn wires are probably tucked under the frame near the radiator. Depending on where you mount it you may need to extend the wire length.

So once you get all of the right pieces it is pretty easy. I just didn't know what all the right pieces where, which is why I went with the SicAss kit. It was pricey, but good quality.

I will look @ that kit, & also using the stock components. Will the stock parts plug right in ? Im not fooling w turn signals as they are not required. I do have to get some DOT tires. I have looked @ the dunlop 606s & the Metzlers that come stock on 2011. Any info here is appreciated. I may have to post this subject in another forum. Thanks again all.

If you don't need blinkers then what exactly do you need?

My 2010 FE450 came with hi/low beam headlight, front/rear brake light, and tail light. The horn wiring is there, but no horn. And I had to add a mirror.

I thought the 570s came street legal? I am confused about what you need to change.

I had my dealer swap the stock tires for Dunlop 606. I only have about 40 miles on my bike, but so far I am happy with the tires. I can't offer any comparison experience though.

First I havent got it yet, its on order will be here in 2 weeks. I know the headlight is not DOT, I dont think it has brake light or brake light switches. I saw the high/low switch & horn switch. Maybe someone can tell me if it has the brake light switch on theirs. I was just going by what the dealer said, they wanted to sale me a Bajadesigns kit. I will go by there tom. to see what I can find out. Mine is the first one they are going to convert so I can pick it up plated. The 2011 model is already street legal, 2010 is not. Thanks, all help appreciated.

If the 2010 570 is the same as my 2010 450 USA model, it should come with high/low beam as well as front/rear brake light all functioning. Since you don't need blinkers perhaps all you need is DOT tires, mirror, and horn. If that is the case, then your conversion is very easy. The only challenge is figuring out where to mount the horn.

Where is everyone mounting their horn? What about tag light ? And the headlight as is isnt DOT, I will use the stock 2011 one I beleive. Thanks

My SicAss kit suggested mounting the horn on the headlight mounting bolt. I didn't feel that was strong enough. I thought the heavy horn bouncing around would tear the screws out of the plastic.

I then tried mounting it to the speedometer mounting bracket. I had to mount it facing backwards. I didn't like it. The sound was aimed backwards and it interfered with the clutch cable movement when steering. But here is a photo (you have to look close to see the horn). I also had to extend the horn harness to reach up under the headlight assembly (which came with the SicAss kit).

I believe the stock Husaberg horn mounts to the right radiator somehow. I don't know exactly how. I mounted mine to the side of my Bullet Proof radiator guard. The stock wires barely reach. This mounting seems to work okay. It is facing sideways which should minimize it filling with water and mud, and it is somewhat shielded by the tank shroud.

Oh, and I didn't worry about DOT approval on the headlight. I have never heard of an inspector checking that (in Utah). Some do check for DOT tires, and they may check for hi/low beam, but I doubt they will care if the headlight is DOT approved.

Although I found that the stock headlight is aimed at the sky. I had to modify the headlight assembly to get the aim correct. (search Husaberg forum on KTMtalk for details)

Thanks, I have to have DOT Headlight as dealer is doing inspection. I just need to get that & tag light sorted mirror & horn They will make me change tires too. They rec. the dunlop 606s. Im also looking @ the stock Metzlers that come on the 2011. Thanks for the pics as well.

your conversion

I plated my 2010 FE450. I bought a blinker kit from SicAss Racing. It had everything I needed except the mirror. Low profile LED blinkers, horn, better switches, and the needed wiring harnesses. I think it looks as good as stock. Here are some photos if you want to take a look...

I'm thinking that i'd like a small bike rather than a big one (690+) for baja style adventures. this build looks amazing. do you have a parts list and any recommendations a couple years later?

I have an FE450 but would do the conversion to a 570 i'm buying...

cheers!
