dual sport conversion in Oregon?

I have heard of bergs in oregon being delivered new in dual sport trim. Can I legally convert my 2006 fe 650 to road legal in Oregon? Any tips to help would be appreciated.

Wooleyberger, contact BOSS or Bikebarn they know what to do. I am not a dual sporter, but have heard a rumor that Oregon has made the dual sport law a little tougher.

You certainly can put dual-sport trim on your bike and you may even get it past the your local Oregon DMV office and get a plate. Will it be legal? In a word: NO! Husabergs do not comply with federal emission and safety standards. Check out the sticker on the headstock behind your headlight stating such things as "designed for closed course competition only" and "operating on roads, streets or highways is illegal".

Oregon DMV is currently making my life somewhat miserable. After easily getting my bike plated 6 months ago, their computer "red flagged" me all because the MCO from BMG states the body type as "MF" which means motorcycle frame instead of "motorcycle". They actually want to confiscate my title and registration and will certainly want my plate.

This is all a bummer to me as my bike came with all the bells and whistles to make it "street legal".

One tip would be; don't let them see the MCO!

Yep, a Buddy of mine went to DMV, got his CRF450X plated, six months later he received a letter in the mail revoking the registration and a request to return the plate to DMV. Funny that at no time was a reimbursement of registration cost mentioned, hum....

To the best of my knowledge, this is all true. Oregon dmv is not allowing one to convert a bike to dualsport any longer. I'm not sure if this law is in the books as of today. Thus why bikes are coming from factory all dualsported out. Please if anyone knows differently, please correct me. I was told this from a source I won't mention so this is second hand info.

That is coming down the pipe in CA as well if not already, if you have a street licensed berg or other bike not LEGALLY road worthy, be ready for a letter revoking it and demanding the plate to be returned.

What a bunch of political horsepuckey. On second thought, maybe I will just keep the berg the dirt ripper that it is and get a different bike for street duty.

2006 FE650E

NO PROBLEM WITH MY FS650E & FE650E, DEALER IN BEND DID IT FOR ME...

RE: 2006 FE650E

I have had mine plated for 2 months, no prob yet. My bud also plated his at the same time in OR and has had no letter yet.

My bud with the CRF is in Portland and that may have a lot to do with the problem, as they do emissions testing. The locals here in central Oregon have yet to have problems that I know of.

I Just spent weeks fighting Oregon DMV. The local offices here in Portland could not answer my questions without conflicting one another. I called Salem to get "the real deal" from those that should be in the know. I found the more I inquired, The more conflicting statements that I was given. Finally after several weeks of climbing my way up the DMV food chain of personal, I spoke to a gal from transportation safety. She stated that I may be able to go into a local office and swindle my way out with a plate and tags but that the odds were high that once my paperwork made it's way to Salem, It would be red flagged and I would receive a revoking letter shortly after. She also stated that if they did not catch it this year... That when it came time to renew my tags in a two years that there would be no chance that I slipped through the cracks. I was told that they are putting together a database of VIN numbers from all manufactures of what was produced for street eligibility and that anything that is not on this list will be red flagged. When I asked about those that already have there license and tags from years past, She also stated that those would be revoked in the next several years..... I knew I shouldn't have sold that LC4.

Just leave it to BigAl to get to the bottom of IT! BigAl is being bashfull, he probably wined and dined, then got all lawyer, then kicked and screamed, probably wined and dined some more before geeting to the real awnsers.
That does bite a big one, because I'm in the process of dualsporting that 250, like your dads. So much for that. I guess I'll just have to put on the jersey that says BANDIT and go play in the golf courses instead of trying to be a law abiding, tax paying citizen.
Just leave it to OREGON to screw things up some more. I bet if your name was Jose and you were an illeagal, Oregon DMV would allow you do dual sport anything, legally and free. Heck they even throw in drivers licences these days. You don't even need a social security # or even be an American Citizen.

Danger! Danger! hijacked into a political thread.., strictly against the rules... do not try this at home...

:x Hell According to Bank of America You no longer need a SSN or a credit history or any real proof you are who you say you are to get a credit card.. :x

But hey, no worries! the economic fall out from this catastrophic blunder will be taken care of by all of the LEGAL, LAW ABIDING people who care about their credit rating. Sure, no problem, I will pay higher interest rates so whoever is here illegally can rack up the card and bail...

Will someone with a degree in business/economics please explain wtf they are thinking!

I always hated B of A . Now people should close their accounts and switch banks... unfortunatly it will be all banks soon enough...

LEAGAL RESIDENTS CAN"T EVEN OPEN A SAVINGS ACCOUNT WITHOUT SSN'S, IT IS A VIOLATION OF THE SO-CALLED "PATRIOT ACT"

sorry, I digress, now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

When are we as a people going to insist that the Gov not allow special privileges and free medical while in this country illegally. Why should my Ins. rates be driven up to pay for someone in MY USA illegally. How hard will it be (God Forbid) to sneak a dirty bomb or bird flu, (you get the picture) into the USA with so little boarder protection? I am not opposed to a guest worker program. Why not have a Gov run unit paid for by fees collected from workers, there will be a few, seasonal visas (extendable with proof of viable employment) some kind of tax (or whatever) on there wage to pay for a Guest worker health program (supplemented by Mexico) to relieve the burden on our health care system.. Issue a tax ID # and tax the income. This will help the school systems and aid in case we end up with a bad apple. There are many other areas that this would help but too wordy. Please understand, my intent is not to Offend, but to Defend. That also includes guest workers themselves. Talk to me at moab if you care to hear the opinion of an average Joe. The problem is not enough Husaberg riders in the world. WE could rule the world, bwaaa-bwaaa-bwaaa

Now does this really look like he could be the leader of the free world?
