Dual sport an 2000 fc 600?

I found a like new 2000 FC600.

I was wondering about the feasability of dual sporting it.

Anyone care to guess about top speed of this 4 geared bike? Is it possible to change to 6 speed?

Where would I look for lighting parts oem or aftermarket?

It has been impossible to plate an off road registered vehicle for street use in Ca. for a few years now. The only way around it is a "Special Construction" registration of which only a limited number are issued each year.

Yes, you could make it a 6 speed. You can do anything with enough time and money.
I think this is one bike that should be used for it's intended purpose. You could easily double if not triple your initial investment trying to make the bike something it is not. Chances are you would not be happy with it when you were done anyways.
The bike would still have a 19" rear wheel with no cush hub. The engine only holds 1 litre of oil, so extended high speed operation is not a good idea. Then you have the whole kickstart only thing along with the MX suspension.
This bike is better suited to go blow a few of your buddies up on the trails or pull the occasional hole shot out at the MX track.

Just my 2 cents.

Berger, just one point.

You say that only with 1 oil liter into the engine it is not suitable ride at high top speed...but, it is assumed that if oil changes are done very often and you warm the engine up just before riding...lubrication is garateed, isn't it?
Do you think it is not quite sure riding 80 m/h (about 120 km/h) ten minutes in a row for this kind of engines?

The first generation motors consumed a fair amount of oil and this is considered normal.

For sustained high speed road use you run the risk of running too low on oil. You would need to check the oil often and bring some extra with you.

With only one liter capacity you don't have much to spare.

A Joe Racer oil cooler would be a helpful addition.

If I didn't pick up a Ca. plated frame for my 600 a couple of weeks ago I would be half way to NCAL by now!
