All three posted pictures are of 600 cc equipment.

Yes, I will be attending the entire Daytona DT series to support my closest friend Dennis Cameron. Dennis is a 55 year old Pro Expert whom simply refuses to hang up his shoe. He will indeed attempt to qualify for the National, a tall order for a man half his age. 8O 2005 Equipment: Lineaweaver / Honda CRF 505.

Interesting Note:
In 1999 The Barberville / Daytona Half Mile nearly claimed the life of my dear friend Dennis. I would not hear of him going this alone. When he said "Let's Get It On," I replied "sign me up".

Hi Dale,
Since that crf505 is a much newer engine design, how does it compare performance wise to your similar displacement Husaberg engines? Would you be willing to reveal its HP and torque stats? How has the engine reliability been for Dennis? Those are some great pictures on both websites. Wish there was more, along with video. :D

Hi Brendan,
The 505 race engine for the CRF has yet to be assembled.
As memory serves the well tuned 450 using a stock head and cam produced in the neighborhood of 52 RWHP. I am looking for a reliable and user friendly 58 - 60 RWHP from the high output 505 assembly.

60 plus RWHP has been produced from stock displacement Yamaha and Honda 450 singles. Unfortunately a substantial increase in rpm is most often required and the fuse becomes quite short.

A year into development My 2000 based 448 Husaberg engine (actual displacement is 444 cc. I simply did not like the way 444 sounded) produced a reliable 57 RWHP @ 9500 rpm. When the DT displacement rules changed and Husaberg showed little interest in a 450 motard effort I stopped development. For nearly a year I feverishly sought funding for a national level Husaberg 505 program, alas, it was not to be. :(

Lineaweaver / Husaberg DT 448 / X2 camshaft .

With the X1 profile 57 peak RWHP was produced and carried well past 10,500 rpm when using a purpose built ignition module.

Sincerely,
Dale

Hi Dale,
I personally like the way "444" sounds. It sort of just rolls of the tongue. Have you ever thought of making a 666? That would be pretty neat. I know I would buy one if I had the money. :D

Do you happen to know the engine weights for the CRF and Husaberg? I am curious if the new engines are lighter.

Mark of the beast!
Are you kidding me?

on our dyno we had this numbers,

crf 450; standard 49 SAE HP
with AKRA and wholes in the airbox 51 SAE HP
well tuned with cylinderhead,AKRA,CAM; 55 SAE HP

crf big bore kit not testing on the bench but from several literature.

480cc 58-60HP,do not known in DIN or in SAE or EEC.

520cc at the crank 71HP.
This last two bike are from tuner MONNIER from Switzerland.

now come on dale!

the devil makes light work for idle hands you know that!

Hi Madero,
Much appreciated, thank you.

Uncorrected Dynojet figures: 52 RWHP.
I hand fabricated an exhaust sytem, installed an FCR 41 mm carburetor, replaced the OEM airbox / manifold with a hand formed piece coupled to an open K&N air filter. Vortex ignition module.
Six hours of dynamometer tuning.

71 BHP (crankshaft) horsepower sounds correct as with a street tire my average rear wheel figures are some 15% - 18% less. 71 - 18% = 58.22

Sincerely,
Dale
