Drop The Needle For Better Mileage

I currently have my needle at the recommended location but will be riding in the desert at 2000 feet. Can I drop the needle one notch to get better mileage and not adversely affect performance?

In theory it works yes. it might drop twice BUT it may also have unwanted side effects.

typically, the idle will be leaner so look to alter the PS.

far better would be to have a smaller PJ by one size. if already on a 42PJ then the next one down can be difficult to set right without a change in Pilot air jet (under the bellmouth).

just buy my jetting kit. it is very economical.

cheers

Once I take my bike out for the day in the desert I will know how much if any mods I need to make to get the miles per tank I need.

Has anyone use an auxiliary tank mounted on the back fender?

Are you talking about the Husaberg one under the seat or the type of bum one that you can get that sits on the top of the rear guard.
I would go for the Husaberg one under the seat any day over the bum one that has to be strapped on, such is ok if need be and at times you can feel it's their doing hill climes it's not the best as some times I can remember having been hanging on with my legs hanging out over the tail, I would say that then your balls would be siting on the fuel cap and not to mention then fuel can leak out a bit.

I got the fuel tank on the rear for Fraser island riding in sand doing long distances just to play it safe. but did not have a Berg then.
We have the bigger fuel tanks in Australia 10.5L I think and others only have a 9L I believe it is in USA.

But with a 08 Berg or earlier the tank under the seat is king.

I just installed the under the seat tank but I did not have the instructions. Seems very straight forward installation but the hose connection on the top of the tank is much larger than the breather hose. There is no hole in the gas cap. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Zen for posting the instructions (even if it was long ago)!
