Drinking water solution?

Does anyone have a way to carry drinking water that doesn't involve carrying it on your back (Camelback)? My back doesn't like carrying the camelback, and it pulls the chest protector back into an uncomfortable position.

So, maybe a fannypack with a water hose, or soft bag that would strap to the tank? Any products out there like this? Any other ideas?

I've used one of these since I graduated from a camel bak and bum bag combo:

It fits snugly over the armour and doesn't move at all, very comfortable. The bladder compartment will expand to take 2 3l bladders for a long hot day! All tools and stuff is handy ands its very strong and durable. the only thing I had to do was lengthen the chest straps because I've got a big one!

That is the setup I use as well. Highly recommended.

I have heard good things about the Zakspeed setup as well.

Thanks guys, those are both interesting products. However, I am trying to get the weight off my back and shoulders (Compressed disk) so I'm hoping that the hip/lumbar version will work.

I and my club president both have blown L5/S1 discs. The flightvest works well for us. I tends to distribute the weight evenly. You also wont feel the need for a chest protector anymore.

All those pockets, I would be tempted to put something in them. :)

i thought there was an uncanny resemblance between you two, but to be honest, since i've never seen frank without food in hand, and you being a closet eater, i never would have recognized it.

These things are great. Soft plastic which has no sharp edges to dig into you. You can shove them in your jacket, backpack, or behind your headlight. Once empty you can fold up to a very, very small size.
They come in 3 sizes (500ml, 1 litre or 2 litre)

I also use these for carrying spare fuel for the bike. They are not designed or intended for fuel use, but do work quite well. I have been using them for over 2 years now and the fuel has not deteriorated the plastic, nor does it leak.

They are so tough, that you can fall on them with all your body weight (as in an accident), and they don't rupture.

I got these from Anaconda Camping stores in Australia.[/img]

That's the one. It happens to be the one from the KTM hard parts catalog. It's made for KTM by Ogio.

Hey berger, I know about this area of pain also. L5 that is. 1993 YZ 465 air mail . L5 compression fracture.
The x-ray is scary. That vertibrae has some big fangs from the colapse. Ouch!!

It's almost funny how many of us support back injuries & still ride 8O After I smashed my back I got a ktm 520 to see if I could handle it anymore, then progressed to the mighty berg. If anything, it makes you a better rider I think cause you cant sit down at all without paying for it for the nest week.
