The bike looks great in black, is that the exhaust exiting just in front of the rear wheel?

Good work on the race wins too.

Thanks, guys! Specially my mentor and role model, Taffy.
Specially fun to keep up with a Pami-tuned 725cc BMW on the straights. Even more fun to win in front of that bike!

Yes, it is my very short exhaust that exits just below the left footrest. Total length (from exhaust valve seat to where the muffler starts) is appr 715mm.

Thanks also to SwedishSteel (Patrik) for putting in some late hours to help me out in the preps.

It weights about 105kg with carbon fairings. I have no figure with current glassfibre fairings, but I have also made new lighter radiators, so I guess it's +/- 0 kg. Carbon wheels would have been nice, taking off some of the unsprung weight and reducing the gyro effect. It would also reduce the weight of the wallet substantially!
:)

Ah yeah, its all about the velocity of money isin`t it.
I really like what you are doing.

This weekend was second round in the Nordic Supermono Cup. We visited Norway and the nice track VÃ¥ler. I managed to win the Saturday race and ended second on Sunday. On the Sunday race my muffler cracked open and I lost power, I spread "wool" all over the place! I was wistleing all the 700km back home!

:D

what's occuring mats? i here your fellow countryman; he of the third wheel got some guru advice out of schleen's (he now starts all words viz a 'z' or a 'v').

the lab is busy into the night here and my engine is coming to life!

Taffy

I passed the 3rd round, which was held in the north of Norway, 1650km one way from home! After that round I was still leading the cup, but only with 6 points. So I went to Linköping for the 4th round (race 7 and 8 ). I have never felt comfortable with that track, and it has allways been a struggle to do decent laptimes. I guess this time everything came out of the ketchup bottle! First I got pole, then I won 2 races AND set new lap record for Supermono´s!!!

Now people in the pits are going from: "Is Husaberg not breaking down all the time?", to more recent: "Fook'n ell! It's fast! The others look like they've parked." :D

I'll get back to you, Taffy, shortly!

!

ha1 ha! you've been talking to foul mouthed english people for too long my friend!

that's brilliant mate. my man got a 7 a 2 and a 1st out of 30 yesterday so things are looking up!

Taffy

Good on you and your rider!

"Fowl mouthed english people"? Hm, who might that be...

The last round of the Nordic Supermono Cup took place at Gelleråsen Raceway, Karlskoga, not far from the Husaberg "breeding grounds". I had a 13 point lead in the cup, but with 2 remaining races (each win is 25 points) it was an open case. The bike, tyres and engine felt very good and I was rewarded pole position, 0,4s ahead. I made a good start in the first race and took the lead. I managed to find my comfortable pace and pulled away, crossing the finish line 10 laps later almost 12 seconds ahead of no 2! Still, I had 20 points lead with the last race of the season remaining. I made a good start again, but wasn't very ambitious braking into turn 1, so another driver (KTM690) passed. I felt my tyres weren't warm enough yet, so I restrained myself and let him go some 30 meters. After 1 lap I sensed that the grip was reliable and pushed up to my normal pace. I passed easily on the straight and set a very comfortable pace, without risking anything, crossing the finish line 3 seconds ahead of no 2!

So, this meant that I won the Nordic Supermono Cup!!!! :D :D :D 8O 8O 8O 8) 8) 8)

Of course with great help from Topplocksverkstan, Mossbergs Mek, KEVA and my family!

Congratulations Dr C, good to hear you put the pesky ktm in its place.

just out of interest, do the other bikes have the same amount of design, engineering and love put into them as yours?

Big congratulations!! :hello1: to you Mats. The hard work paid of finally. Nice of you not to race in Mo-i-rama so there was a little excitement left for the last race. 7 wins out of 8 if i count right. Thats dominating the championship if i you ask me. Have you gone up to mr landgren and tell him (like the kids do) I OWN YOU!! :notworthy: Did you still run with engine nr 2?

Best Regards
Patrik

now it come up to me  It must be the stickers i gave you :D

Yes, the "pesky KTM", Yamaha, Rotax, BMW... 8)

Hm. I believe that no other rider has bothered to learn so much, as I have, about the physics behind good engine performance and rider technique. Well of course it takes a lot of hours in the workshop developing/manufacturing/maintaining, as my wife can confirm. Most riders "just" buy tricky bits and bolt them on, not getting the full potential out of the investment. Some riders pay good money to gurus to make their engines go. I like to understand whats going on and design/manufacture as much as I can by myself.

Thanks a million, Patrik!
Hehe, yes, not racing in Mo i Rana was only to keep the championship alive! The fact that it is 1650km one-way distance, had nothing - nothing at all, to do with that decision.

Yes, still no 2. The roller mains are lasting long in that engine (0,75mm axial play!).
The stickers were nice, but the hours you dedicated, made a real contribution to the success. Thanks!

I rented a pitbox, so my tent stayed at home. I brought my AC/DC TIG instead! But my new exhaust design worked flawless and didn't need any repair. I welded some aluminium for the classic "Blådåre" Ducati 750 (won both races) and an exhaust for an S4 Monster in the Ducati club race. Between Friday and Saturday we split Johan Rydéns Husaberg 650, and assembled it with one of my spare cranks and piston (He ended second in both Supermono races). But that is what it's all about!

Think your newest trophy must be proof of the right way to go with bike development.

Great to see the mighty Berg isn't just for Offroad/Supermoto events.

Super big congratulations Mats. It has been a pleaure riding with you and all the other guys in the NSC this my first year.
If you ask me again next week sometime I'll be glad for the 5th place in the cup but this week I'll be disapointed for my poor riding this last weekend. 1.6s after my race pace from last year.
I really want to take the engine out of my beloved 650 and putting it into a proper chassi instead of the underpowered barn door look-a-like 690 but the size of my wallet and the non existing garage in my yard forces me to stay with the pesky KTM.

I trust you have come to apprecheate the friendly/helpful atmosphere in the Supermono pits? :) For using a std bike with limited power and unlimited air-resistance, you and Stefan have been doing some respectful laptimes. I think you have come to terms with your result by now, not bad at all for being the first season, so congratulations to you too!
