just wondering dr_c ,whats going on with that piston.
thought you were using wossner std pistons because of the flat top & reasonable light weight at 282g.
why are you machining weight off the std husaberg flat top piston?
do you think it maybe stronger than the std wossner after machining?
have you had trouble with the std wossners?
whats the story lad?

he's gone from dished to flat to domed weed. he's using the 470HC piston now - or will be!

He is now having 13,9:1 in comp, so i dont think a 470hc is enough.And he tryed that longtime ago. Later Elko and som special wössner, He talked about ordering a custom hc piston before. And if I know him right. the machining was not enough for Mr-perfect :D

Maybe he tell us so we dont need to guess.

I think he is working with the bike, jetting it and adjust the new hpi ignitionin the dyno, The first race for his class is next weekend 25-26 april.

yeah thats no probs,i'll wait.
i'm sure there is a few of us out there who is interested in the best sort of replacement pistons available.
i know the elko is the lightest by about 10g from the std wossner but that has the dished top.
from underneath the wossner just doesn't look as strong as the old std berg piston,but then you are throwing extra weight unnecessarily maybe?

I had Wössner make me pistons with reinforcing bridges and proper squish (1,00mm). They are totally flat. After having done some work on the combustion chamber (+ 11 CFM/28" water, at 6-8mm lift) the geometric compression ratio was approximately 13,9:1. The forging was too heavy as the empty piston body was 373g. I thinned the center of the roof to 5mm and the other cavities to 4mm. That made the piston go down to 342g. I think it is possible to loose another 50g if being a little comitted to the task, but time to race is getting short... This piston seems very solid, just a bit too heavy.

Race preparations are allways pulling late hours, so now it's time to hit the sack! Thanks to Swedish Steel for putting in some valuable hours in helping out!

Nice engineering. Hope this piston will last longer than the elko (which cracked if im right?)
What's the weight off the Elko piston?
