Dosen't anyone want to work on my Berg? ;(

I can't believe the lack of support in my town. I called every single motorcycle shop including the KTM dealer, and not one of them would touch a Husaberg. They didn't even want to know what I needed them to do (a simple leakdown test). I guess if your bike isn't red blue or green, it just isn't good enough to be worked on, even if it is a superior bike. Arrrg.....Now I am going to have to buy a leakdown tester myself. Anyone else have this problem?

Hi,
i`ve telephones 2 KTM Dealers (1 little and 1 great shop here in Germany in the near of my town), asked for service for my Husaberg, cause here is no Husa-Dealer near by.
Both say no at once, it was absolut clear to hear, that they don`t want a Husaberg in their shop.
They don`t need it i think, it`s KTM.....really annoying.
But i must say, the dealer i bought the Husa is still a ktm-dealer (!), took it to sell a Quad therefore. Unfortunately he is too far away .

Sirsumm!
Heck, I always wanted to move to Montana.
Seriously! My wife´s first choice. Just couldn´t find a way to make a living... Seems there´s a vacancy!
Also seems I would have a bit more to learn first...
Wouldn´t mind to live there though!
Hope it works out.

If I ever get my bike up and running, you all are invited to come ride here with me. From what I have seen I am the only one here with a Berg. I see alot of YZF's and CRF's, but never a Berg. It's a shame, the berg really shines here in the mountians. The terrain ranges from monster hill climbs to technical canyon riding all in the same area. I never get tired of riding around here. I just get tired of riding my quad, it's way too slow for this country.

Hi sirsumm
what kind of repair or problem are you having ? I might be able to give you a hand since I don't to far away from you
so long

My shop is looking for qualified CNC aerospace machinists www.cmman.com
There is a large call for machinists and diesel mechanics in my area. Mabe this could help you in your quest to move here!

Well, I am rather sure that my valves are not the problem anymore!!! When I loaded the ol girl into my truck I noticed a coolant leak, I just couldn't tell where from. So I started it up, and noticed coolant coming from the head gasket, and then noticed the front bolt to my head was gone. So I replaced the bolt, tried it out, and viola!!! It ran like a champ again, even more power than ever! I looked down, and now the base gasket is leaking. :( I can't win for loosing. At least the valves seem OK, and I was abe to cancel my apointment with the BMW shop. How is the cylender bolted on to this engine? Do I need to remove the entire head to access the bolts that hold the cylender on? Should I worry about the head being warped, due to the front bolt being gone?

When overheated early Husaberg engines were indeed prone to warping the head between the exhaust valves.

I would suggest @ a minimum to pull the cam cover and re-torque the cylinder studs.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Dale

Thanks Dale,
I will do that, and then see how things go. I have a spare gasket set, but I think I will wait to replace until I know that I need to for sure. Where are the torque specs listed at here on UHE?

Here is page 52 of the 89-96 Owners manual. It says 40Nm. My 99 manual says 44Nm for the 99..

Regards,

Joe
