Doing a rebuild and wondered if the cam sprocket that is pressed onto the other side of the idler gear need to be pulled off before splitting the cases or can you do it afterwards?

you can do it afterwards with prise bars. it's in the doc under rebuild - i think!

when building the engine back up, get the left main in first then the new intermediate shaft inner bearing and then slip the shaft in and fit the sprocket, the gear and the nut, the lot! tighten by any means there and then for piece of mind. then continue with the rest of the rebuild.

Dont forget to heaten the cam sprocket and to cool (freeze) the shaft, if not its almost impossible to fit the gear.
