Thought i may have a cooling system problem when i got my 650 but just realized that the exhaust gets alot hotter thrn my 550 who else has experienced this?

If either one are jetted too lean, they will run hot. That said, the 650 likely may run a bit hotter. The '00 to '06 fuel tanks restricted are flow more than the latter set up and would boil over easier on super tight trails. My '05 650 boiled over in the slow stuff until I swapped tanks.

I wouldnt have either Taffy.
Its a fs 650 2005 and i have fe 2007 550. Was really surprised in how much hotter the exhaust was on the 650 when i started. I assume the carbi has been played with it has a barret exhaust but i reckon ill put the standard back on it

The heat it makes near idle is affected by the richness of the pilot circuit, so as an experiment you could set that circuit. It's been discussed a bit here. (Adjusting the fuel screw / idle screw / finding the right pilot jet.)

This doesn't land you the right main jet but it might be something to try :)

It's going to run better too.

Thanks to all who gave me info i have all service manuals and now have a good idea where to start. Bergs are perfect out of the factory so its going back to that
