Does FS 450 have enough power?

Hi!

I'm about to join the Husaberg fanclub ... In a week or three i will get my motorcycle licence. I live in Norway, a cold country with alot of forrest and funny terrain. We dont got alot freeway but the freeways are at maximum 90kmh and i don't ride them regularly.

The Berg I can afford is the 2004 FE/FS450. After what ive heard, the FE450 is abit underpowered? :? Should i look at other rides from other manufactures? Or save up to 650?

All I need is a ride i can ride a year or two without getting bored because its underpowered. I ride 70% road, just wanna pop them wheelies, climb those smaller hills, slide trough them corners

Anyone got 2 cents for me ?

I've got a 2004 FS450e. It made 48.1bhp at the wheel on an accurate dyno a few weeks back.

More than quick enough for me.

I agree, my 570 is only atad over 50bhp and will just scrape 100mph if you wring its neck, its surprisingly docile considering nearly 60cc more than my 530 but thats fine, exactly what i want, a manageable bige bore thumper.
TBH, if i won lottery, i would have 570 for trail, 390 for enduro, H&H and 150 sx for mx track.

same here, i had a 2004 HUSA and it will sooner be too fast than to slow for you, specially in the terrain.

enjoy!

Well, im not gonna use the bike that much in terrain, and when i do its just for fun ... Mainly road.

It stands between FS450 and FS650. Which one is better when it comes to maintenance?

RE: Re: RE: Does FS 450 have enough power?

They're almost the same in terms of maintenance. They both need enough maintenance, especially when you use them on the road. I hace a 2004 FE 450 in a supermoto trim and it's really not slow, that's one thng i can say. I like the bike, that's the most important thing;) The 650 will be faster than the 450 and you'll feel the difference, but it's isn't said that you will have more fun. I would only look for a good bike which has had a good maintenance (for a good price :p ). Good luck

There is a 2 400$ jump between FE450 and FE650. Where the FE has had a rebuilt after ~200h, Fe650 not rebuilt after ~90h.

Does the FE450 powerwheelie in 1-3? Big difference in sound?

Is there kits to get more power to the FE450? Expensive kits?

Im really happy for the guidance, im having problems deciding :(

The Fe 450 does wheely on power in first to thirth, in fourth you have to use the clutch. The sound is almost the same and for more power you'll need an other exhaust (Akra, Doma, EP,...). That will get you more power and with a bit of finetuning on the dynojet you'll have almost 50 bhp. The 650 will have 60+ bhp. But I think the fun is almost the same in the 2 bikes. I would buy the bike that ha had best maintenance and has a "better state". Hope I could help

Hey There
My 2 cents:Reading you're post I get that you are looking for the most fun factor on the BERG. Get the 650. I own a 2004 Fe550 and a 2007 Fe650, and the 650 is the most fun bike on the planet. Its ability to pull a wheelie at will with no clutch will erase the money difference in no time. I have ridden the 450 as well, and the 650 is WAY MORE FUN.

Change the oil often. I have 10,000km on my 650 right now and have had no problems.

Good luck
