Am I getting the run-around?

Does a 2013 FE501 require a battery to stay running?:furious:

Of course it needs a good battery to start, or a kick starter, but if you remove the B+, should it stay running?

can't speak for the Berg, but i remember chuckling as a RUB (rich urban biker) in my lot was trying to bump start a Ducati 748 due to a dead battery. I just had to watch him make pass after pass pushing that 400lb bike in his loafers and the obligatory jump, side saddle mount, hit the shifter and . . . . ugh!

After the 5th or 6th pass I finally had the heart to stop him and explain the need for a prestart charge to prime the fuel injection. Of course, he ignored me (despite the fact that I was riding a 916 at the time) and continued to get his P90x workout by pushing a fuel injected "Quattro" that would likely never start. I wish I had stayed just to watch and mock without mocking. Anyway, the bike was in the same lot the next morning (sans left side plastic and mirrors). So, the moral of the story is that a fuel injected bike would have a very hard, if not impossible time running at loss.

So....Goose.....why does any FI bike come with, or the option to install, a kick-starter?:unsure:

Theoretically, if you had a dead battery you could;

Turn off or unplug the lights.
Pull the air filter.
Pour a shot of nectar in the airbox/boot/TB and kick it to life.

ammirite?

I know some of the jap bikes have battery-less efi. Just kicking it over creates enough juice to get the bike running.
