DOES A 02 FE470 SWINGARM FIT IN A2000 FE OR FC501

Please don't flame me if I have missed this elsewhere .

What I want to know is if a later 2002 swingarm will fit in my 2000 501 fc ?

If it does can i use the original 2000 shock ie fit and still work properly?

I understand the newer swing arm has supposedly has an altered pick up for improved suspension action is lighter by 1/3 and will help me to look cooler :twisted:

Uncharted waters here mate. I would have to say it's a definate maybe. Your going to have to take some measurements.

I was looking at the swingarm on ebay .
I know the bearings will be the same so half way there .type 1 (1997- 2004)
just expected it would have been a mod already done by someone already
is the anyone here who has a 2002 470 that can measure it ? metric
--don't usually trust seller measurements they usually leave me more confused

looking at inside and outside width pivot point?

Hey Foster,

Why dont you measure the internal measurement between the swing arm pivots in your frame in your 2000 model, and no doubt someone on here can do the same with a 2002, I'd be happy to check in on my '05, but you would have to check part numbers to see if theres been any change between 2002 and other models, visually they were the same since 2001 and 2008, but there may have been some differences (I dont know).

while you are there you would also need to measure each side of the swing arm that goes either side of the engine case, and the dimension of the engine case itself, just to make sure there were no differences in the dimensions or offset.

I would expect that both frames were the same so should fit and shock should be interchangable.
