Do These Bikes Have Cam Chains That Need Periodic Adjustment

i've got an 02 470. don't have a bunch of seat time and other than changing oil, thats about it

yesterday I noticed some noise that sounded like a cam chain slapping around.

are these chain driven and do they require periodic adjustment?

It's possible you need to replace the timing chain due to wear

I just had a problem with rockerarm roller bearing (it was worn badly), but first i though that noise was coming from the camchain, so i propose You to first check those roller bearings.

About how often should a person check the cam chain and roller bearings for wear? Since I don`t race the time to check should be what once a year or wait till I hear strange noises? I`am thinking time table.

Hi Ammo easy way to determine if our chain is strecht and slapping.
remove spring in tensioner then remove tensioner if tensioner is extended
all the out or close you cam chain and perhaps chain guides. Cam bearings and rockerarms are other possible source of failure if rockerarms
haven't been updated new style I would replace them they will go bad
