cheers,
Davie

It's all in the technique.....and it helps to have Arnie's left leg and nut. Search the forums, there are many opinions on the proper starting drill.

:crying: :crying:
use the force luke
use the force
and if all that fails read starting tips

just wait till your knackered and come off and u ave to restart it then u know u ave got it all to do

oh its so good to be advising instead of asking

Berger (and the rest of the board) will tell you I too had a hard time at first.

Look for TDC and then crank it hard!!!

Hmmm...dont know about bergs but in my old LC4 620 the best way was slightly diferent...and *extremely* easy:

1. look fo TDC

2. *then* move down kickstarter just a little bit down so piston starts to pass TDC (stop right as soon as you feel a slight loss of resistance in the kick)

3. move up again kick so you can do a full kick...

4. now kick like it was a 125cc 2s (i.e. more like a quick stab)...yeap, it was that easy :)

before i discovered this trick, it was a "nightmare" to kick the b***h...

Of course he has to slightly pass TDC or else he's going to twist his ankle :?

If there is a decomp lever, my trick is to get a bit of slack in the cable and then to kick it hard from top to bottom and to BE THE SPARK.

I would expect the starting procedure on the old LC4s to be about the same.

Hi Dave and welcome to bergdom, definitely a knack to be learnt, dont know what will work on yours as they seem to have their own individual routine but i can tell you what starts on my old 501 for the first start of the day. i dont use any choke at all, three slow kicks with some throttle, then get it just dropping past tdc, bring the lever back to the top then a good strong kick, make sure you punch all the way through to the bottom as thats the bit that normally kicks em up. normally takes me about 4 or 5 goes to get her fired up, dont leave her to warm up at idle, get straight on and have a potter about to warm her up. dont know if this'll work on yours but if you try enough peoples routines you'll find one that works, i mainly rode a beamish before the berg and i know its a shock to the system but its worth it :D good luck bud.

thanx for all the replies guys,i'll try any position till i find the right one 8O cheers,
Davie
