DIY Thumb brake!

My bikes currently broke with an electrical issue and I'm having to rely on forum members for assistance. I'm not the best with electrics but I have managed to make a pretty decent rear thumb brake. So I thought I'd share what little I can!

I decided to fit the thumb brake as my right foot with supermoto boots on isn't too sensitive and when the front wheel came up I found I'd try touching the brake and ended up stamping on it.

So I decided to make a thumb brake. Shop bought ones are way too expensive.

My plan was to use a front brake and mount it in the opposite direction on the left hand bar.

I purchased a ducati 916 brembo front brake master cylinder and lever from eBay. I took the lever off and cut off the lever to the correct size. I've hand filled it into a useful / comfortable shape.

I bought a braided hose from venhill. It goes all the way from the lever to the rear calliper.

I managed to fit the unit but didn't completely finish my mini project.

I have recently bought the bike that I sold in 2011 back and my project is exactly as I left it. Maybe a little more corroded.

I didn't have a bracket for the reservoir, so I just used a bit of string to hold it up.6 years later it's still on!

My next jobs will be sort out a bracket for the reservoir, get a 90* hose so supply the master cylinder and tidy the lever up a little.

It's simple and easy to do! Works great
