discussion re. drop from 450cc to 350cc

this has been discussed in various places for a while heres a press release thats come out over here

possible drop to 350cc

what usually happens in mx finds its way off-rd.

WAAAAA ...no no no , we need a 250 and a 500 .

the 250 is for the shirt lifters and the 500 is for the real MEN
 
The way I understand this decision is that for the sport to move forward the noise level must go down,plain and simple.While the 4 strokes appear to be able to be more emissions compliant they(the manufacturers) have not been able to be as successful with the decibal levels.Also, it has become apparent that the success of the modern 4-stroke has ,to some degree, come at the expense of the 2-stroke,simply because of the sizeable displacement advantage given to the 4t machines.It may be just time to quiet things down and even things up.
 
wonder how they decided on 350. as if you recall the original displacement ruling when the classes changed in 1990, or about then, was 400cc then they went to 450 when it was found that the 2st 250 could still keep up with the 4st 400.

perhaps its because the tech has moved on so much that a 400 4st now would be about the same as they early 450's
 
Yes! People are getting 350 kits for their 250's and 380 kits for their 450's and actually paying money for it. Hey, manufacturers, people are trying to tell you something, there is a void in the 350 cc 4T area. 350cc AND lighter weight, please. And if you could get hydraulic valve lash adjusters too and EFI and ...

BTW, Santa is a gnome.
