Hello everyone!
I'm thinking to buy an FC 550, model year 2004/05.
I need to know the differences to the model FE, to are sure that the bike I'm buying is an real cross model.
Thanks

Try to get the chassis number and communicate it in the forum. I am not an expert but here is who can tell you if it is an FX or a FE. However the differences between FX and FE are in the suspensions and lack of equipment to circulate on the road, in the direct exhaust without restrictions, perhaps in the 4-speed gearbox but I'm not sure.

the FC will have a lightweight flywheel and tiny 'ignition only' stator under a different cover.

the exit from the exhaust will be 30mm+ instead of 25mm.

the FC had proper titanium valves.

the chassis number will start with either FC or with FE etc etc.

the FC had a slightly different crankshaft, not really sure why because I never sat the two together and checked the difference.

the frame didn't have a side stand mounting point at all.

THE DANGER WITH THE 550 IS THAT THERE ARE NO CON RODS AVAILABLE. i have been using XR400 rods with a stepped pin and this works well. An Australian says he has had a few made but I don't know any details.

regards

Taffy

Thanks!
So, to are sure it is really FC, the bike must have:
- 19" rear wheel
- No side stand mounting point
- No steering lock
- frame number FC xxxx
- no wires for headlight
- exhaust exit will be 30mm +
- 4-speed gearbox
- engine number will start with FC ???????
