Difference between KTM cams and Berg Cams???

Hi all,
I seem to remember something in the forums(pre-upgrade) where it was stated that KTM cams wouldn't work in a Berg. Am I remembering this correctly?

What exactly are the differences (mostly looking for comparison with post 2000 models), aside from water pump drive. Are the journals placed the same width apart? Is the lobe placement(with respect to rocker roller) and timing (with respect to cam sprocket bolts and auto decompressor) basically the same? ...I know that the bearing are the same, and in 2004 most other parts as well. So, unless they changed the cam design in 2004, I would assume the answers to the above would be yes.

And if the KTM cams are the same, does that mean the Husky cams are the same also?

okay...and the difference between berg and ktm cams is.............?

please note this edit; there were 6 or so post previous to this one that had NOTHING to do with cams, husabergs, or dirtbikes in general. They have been deleted. Therefore the post isnt quite as random as it may now seem!

The engine is rotating in the other direction.

Fiend,

If our resident cam guy doesn't have an answer for you by tonight, I'll search the old forum posts at home and see if I can find the old topic.

thanks,

From memory:
Early Husqvarna and current KTM camshafts are similar to that of Husaberg in design only. The physical size and placement is different enough to prevent a useful interchange.

Regarding Husaberg:
During development I have used modified pre 2001 camshafts in post 2000 engines.

FYI:
OEM KTM and Husaberg profiles are near identical.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,
Dale
