Dick's Racing APS vs. Titanium Nitride fork leg coating

I have an 03 FE400 for which I sent off the suspension to Dick's Racing last year. They did the complete APS on the forks. I love them; way more compliant than stock and more adjust-ability for variations in riding. LOVE THEM!

I just bought an 05 FE450E, and it has the factory option (?) of Titanium Nitride fork leg coating.

I had planed on swapping my Dick's Racing components onto the '05, but that was before I realized that it had the Nitride option.

1. Is the Nitride coating a true factory option, and if so, is there a tangible performance increase?
2. Is it a silly idea to swap the '03 forks onto the '05? Any other differences between each year's forks?

I probably will keep my 03 FE400, so sorry that I won't be able to donate forks for your project.

I have another question though. I found time to start some set up and realized that my new forks are COMPLETELY different than my old. I took some pictures since I need to identify them and hopefully find some documentation. I did not receive any manuals with the bike. I looked on the WP site, Husaberg site and even the KTM site.

First, I need to identify my forks. I think they are "Force" Edition.
1. Fork caps different per photo.
2. Axel clamps are different; they look machined?
3. Nitride coating

Are there significant differences which I should be aware of when trying to get a good setting? Where would I find some sort of manual for the forks?
