I read on here somewhere that you can use Delo in your 650 husaberg with great results, but am unsure which one to get.

This is going to be cheaper then Motorex for sure.

I read to get the basic Delo, so is that the 100 or 400 synthetic?

Hi,

I use Delo 400. Have been running it for 60 hours now with no problems at all. Have had the side cover of a few times and it always look crystal clear inside and am yet to find any metal in my filters. Its not the synthetic type though. The one I use is just a mineral based oil made by Caltex here in Australia.

Hope this helps,

Bluerg

As far as I am aware we dont get the LE here in Australia. So sorry I cant help you with that one. Hopefully someone else on here will know.

Cheers

the SYN is a logo of some sort relating to the ISO SYN refined base stocks used to make the oil

The oil Delo comes in a range of different grades and mineral and sinthetics just curious what people are using 10/40 15/40 ect. I just started working for Caltex and will be using in my Fs650 after i run out of Motul i have Regards Glenn.

G'day Birdy !
I think you will find that the Delo 400 we are using is 15/40 and listed here http://www.caltex.com.au/products_oil_detail.asp?id=23
I have a 650 and with Delo if the temp is near 0c then I have to kick start it first till the oil warms up, then the button is fine. My brother in-law has the 450 and has no probs starting with the button with Delo in the same conditions ! Not a big problem, you just need to be aware of it. The old Delo is a bit thick when very cold.
Cheers :D

JohnnyPark,

The Delo 400 multigrade the US riders are talking about only comes in 15W-40. It is Product Number 235101. It is the original, good for motorcycles Delo. Unfortunately, it is not sold over the counter in 1 gallon bottles any more in the USA. But you can buy in in 5 gallon pails from your local Cheveron distributor in the USA. I don't know about Canada, but I'll bet its the same as the USA.

The Delo 400 Synthetic comes in 2 grades, 0W-30, and 5W-40 product numbers 235195 and 235194 respectively. Some of the USA riders use the 5W-40 with good results, but it is quite expensive compared to 235101. It would be VERY good to use if Ice Racing.

Delo 400 LE, is an ECO friendly diesel, product number 222220, that has a much lower base number, 9.6 instead of 12.2; flash point, 204 C instead of 238 C; and less phosphorus and zinc than the original. Cheveron sells it over the counter in 1 gallon bottles in the USA and probably in Canada. In does meet JASCO Asian Service DH-1.

These are all things important to your motorcycle! I do not use the LE formulation!

I would try and get the original 235101.

Joe

Thank you for conferming it. I will probably look for a 5 or 10 galon pale. I imagine it would be less then 4 litres of motorex.
