hi all , got an fc 501 with what appears to be a dellorto flat slide 350 carb(long story), does any one have any jetting info for me , it ticks over and starts well hot or cold , but wont rev out on the road , so just a main jet size if any one knows, before i get the black and decker to it and drill it too big ....thanks for looking.

they were that bad on ducatis that mick walker refused to let them out of his wisbech gate with them fitted. dreadful carb!

my advice is go to a 37mm keihin from one of the jap 250s. few will want a 37 but it would be perfect for yours.

regards

Taffy

On my 501 it came with a VHSB 38mm flat slide. I think the main jet size in mine was a 50. I agree with Taffy those carbs are not much and if you can find what he is talking about you would be better off in the long run. Myself I installed a PHM 40mm and it was worlds better relatively.
Hope this helps.

I hate to disagree, but. some people love the delorto, I am nuetral. I tried a kein and it never gave the power of the dellorta, but idled well without the rich fluff. the dellorto can be easily jetted because of the way the joke works. If your bike goes flat out and you open the choke and it keeps going you are lean. if you turn the fuel tap off and it goes better flat out suddently then it is too rich. I spent a lot of time with the kein and went back to the dellorto as the snap power was much better. you need to check the needles for wear around the bit where it goes thought the slide and the slides wear out, but as I said I like ti when jetted and jetting is easy?

Then again I have has amals and bings on husqvarnas so??????

i just had to tinker about with the flat slide, just to satisfy myself, i changed the needle and put a 185 main jet in it , and to be honest , it starts well hot or cold ,it ticks over pop pop pop , its crisp its got bags of torque and i cant fault it, i dare say there are better carbs out there but i am gonna stick with this one because after tinkering a bit with it , it runs so well ,can hardly believe it.
