rode a FX470 at the weekend with a dell orto fitted and it was noticeable how strong/violent the thing was from a closed throttle.
i just checked an old thread on a race last year and spotted the same comment when i borrowed a FE400e from colin spicer. even the 400 jolted me!

after the initial jolt though, the dell orto isn't quite as good as the keihin-certainly not as smooth.
but the biggest difference i could feel was how much more effort it was to turn the steering when going back to the std yokes! MY ELBOWS ACHED from the effort. and on bouncy straights i had to have a good grip to keep the bars in check-especially a table top-everytime i came to it.
with the 14s you let go of the bars and light a pipe! KTM owners will NEVER understand that!
as my race report of the 12-hour says, the tall seat saved my legs and spine and is a godsend too. glad i managed to swop that!
i hope many more of you with pre '04s will take my word and find a set of 14/16mm offset yokes from a KTM. i believe that this years bike has an eccentric yoke post and can be adjusted to 16/18mm.
the steeper head angle of later models means that the trail is shorter and the need for 14s to lengthen it COULD still be there? however the steeper head angle should make woods work easier anyway.
keep an eye on ebay!
