why is it that when you open the choke fully open they never start? why does it have to be "just a bit?". i suspect two things: a lack of air speed through a massive hole which then can't draw up the fuel or the fact is you have to restrict the air and that restricts the amount of fuel.

so is it best to have the choke only open a fraction and go for a smaller jet?

orhave the choke fully open and totally change the jet miles up to match the air?

or have the choke fully open and a really tiddly choke jet?

choice two means it'll be a bastard to keep running. i pull old #45 choke jets out of nearly every bike i do so if i collect a few i can experiment - if i ever keep a bike long enough!

so where's yer money?

i've always felt it provided too much fuel and thus a reduction in size on the jet would fix it.
i've always been lazy, so i just deal with it.

From what I see the choke slide opening is adjustable with the cable . How does that play out? Cant you just adjust the slide opening to vary the amount of air taken into the choke circuit? I have made the adjustment, but never experimented with it.

RE: Re: dell orto choke

yes cheers tuts i did see that. as said, we need a system that goes straight to that point where it's perfect. i get the feeling that there is no vacuum through the side tunnel when the choke is fully open.

it may even pay to try a ring before and another after so that you can get the max air speed through the two rings.

like you say tuts it's nice to be variable and learn but once you get that sweet spot you really want to go straight to it every time?

and going to the max is still the right answer for the standard choke system if it can be sorted.
