Decomp on 1999 600FE

I've been doing some much needed maintenance on my 1999 600FE.
It had an oil leak coming from the rocker cover so thought i'd go in for a look. Reading on here with starting issues the decomp mechanism on the cam can wear and not work. But when i pulled the cover off there is no leaver or cam to open the valves to let off a bit of compression? Is this normal for the FE's? Or has someone over the years removed it? I don't have a work shop manual as of yet so going in a bit blind. Any help or advice would be good. Cheers

Hi

I have a 98 FE600E and it doesen't have manual decomp, only autodecomp.
You can can install a modern autodecomp (04+) with some work on the cam and a steel timming gear (it doesen't wear).
If you whant I can send you all the manuals for your bike
