I have a full acra on my 650, i think it will be too loud for trackdays, should i make a dBkiller for it or use the original exhaust? (i don´t have any jet´s for retuning carb)
Does anyone have a picture on a db killer for acra and how much more silent will it be?
 
Isn't there an insert available for your akra pipe? Mine has a removable spark arrestor insert that really quiets things down. Any pictures?

I doubt that you will need to do too much jetting other than maybe adjusting the fuel screw or maybe try a different position on the needle.
 
I'd love to know where to get the mysterious Akra DB insert and spark arrestor as well! My 2008 FE 450 akra silencer( which is stock), puts out 103 db that I measured and this is going to be a problem on trails. I can't find a dealer/vendor that has anything. I also tried ProMoto Billet and they said they had one, took my money, and never sent the part because it turned out they don't make anything for it.

I've tried searching and only come up with recent Akra inserts for the new bikes not my old version 08. Thanks all!

Can you post a picture of the business end of your pipe? Is there a small hole in the bottom of your pipe at the end that has a screw in it that holds what looks like a collar?
 
Dale, there is no collar or screw. There's a hole in the inner cone and a rubber plug in the hole of the outer cone. This bike was used for GNCC racing so it's a big empty muffler! :bounce: Cooooool but loud. Colleen
 
If you could post pictures or find some similar ones online that would be a big help...

You could give Rick Bozarth a call. He is quite knowledgeable about the Akrapovic mufflers. He is the one I got my inserts from.

If yours looks like this, offroadboss.com should have what you need. If it looks different, a complete system instead of a slip-on, you are going to have a tough time.

Doug, Yep it looks exaclty like that! I'll get a hold of him and get this sorted out.

Hey on another note...did you have your 390 for sale on ADVrider last yr? If so I emailed on it but you ended up keeping it or something. Anyhow if you ever want to go for a ride sometime PM me. C ya C
 
I ended up calling Tammy at Boss offroad and got the akra spark arrestor/DB quiet insert for $70 prox. It slips into the end of the pipe and is held in by a screw with some added Locktite to keep it there.

I measured DB and now I'm 93 db with half trottle at 20" distance and 45 degrees. YEAH!! Thanks everyone :cheers:

Seems to run just fine as is but should I do anything about the jetting or carb adjustment?
 
Good to hear it worked out for you Colleen.

I would give you my jetting, but it is for a 380.
