Dakar 570 Berg

Think at this stage there is only the one entered, havent heard of any other bergs getting ready for it.

Will know for sure in a week or two when the entry list is published.

The thread is the build process over the last couple of months here

First half of the thread is on the Safari bikes then the last half on the Dakar bike. Lots of lessons learnt from the Safari bikes have gone into the Dakar bike.

The low energy demand of the the bike coupled with the great handling should be a real asset for Dakar which this year is supposed to be a lot more technical than previous years.

This will be the first Husaberg in the Dakar since 2005 when Rob van Pelt from the Netherlands ran a FE550.

you can follow the event on

and there will be lots of thread talk & photos each day here

RE: Re: Dakar 570 Berg

gary all the best mate. just read all all 10, i mean 11 pages. great effort and you've got way too much time and money!

my question would be: if folk are happy with a 2.15" x 18" rear and a 130 tyre why did you feel it so important to go to a 2.50" x 18" wheel for the 140? any back to back tests by anyone on grip levels and ride/feel?

i trust it's a 1.85" front still x 21"? we have a mag over here with a photo of a morini in it. the big 1200. the front tyre looks to be a 130? jezzzzzz! just trying to work out what the width of the front tyres are etc and why narrow isn't 'good' this time?

anyway, all the best. and don't sup toooo much fuel now will ya!

regards

Taffy

yup the front is just stock normal size rim

the rear is best at 2.5" to fit the Michi Desert 140 with the big fat rallye M02 mousses, it sits better plus is easier to get on and off, its a real ***** on the 2.15", gives a bit flatter footprint in the sand

RE: Re: RE: Re: Dakar 570 Berg

The Dakar 2010 entry list is now up

Only the one Berg entered race # 117, still thats 1 more than since 2005 !!!

http://www.dakar.com/2010/DAK/RIDERS/us ... gages.html

Actually I have only found confirmation of one Berg ever being entered before and that was Rob van Pelt from the Netherlands on a FE550 in the 2005 Dakar.

If anyone knows of any other previous Berg Dakar entries keen to hear.

Looks like there are 2 Bikes
# 69 'BONJEAN 'BERNARDO 'BRESIL HUSABERG 'XP

Good Luck Gazza !

No Bernardo will be on a KTM 525 XC, he couldnt get a Berg built in time, still hasn't even got the bike yet etc !!

He and I have been in touch etc
